Boo! It's bin Laden!

Not being an American, I've forgotten a lot of the details of your past elections. CNN has an article, "Is an 'October surprise' still possible?" that mentions Kerry's lead in the polls a few days going in, but then your friendly neighbourhood Al Qaeda diabetic piped in, seemingly in support of the Dem.

Who owns (if anyone) the national security issue and if bin Laden throws in again, will it affect anything this time? Or does the economy trump security for now?

Not being American as well two things come to mind nonetheless:

First, hasen´t Al Quaida already endorsed McCain? Unless I forgot the basics about this reverse psychology thing...

Second, I don´t know how this could be pushing McCain. Sounds rather like a good bye present to or by Bush. Unless McCain told Bush where to find him. Cause McCain knows how to get him!

I think it's a moot point. People aren't afraid of terrorism anymore, they've become complacent until the next time disaster strikes.

An al qaeda affiliated website discussed the benefits of having Obama being president versus having McCain being president and determined McCain would benefit them more.

An al qaeda higher up also just released a video praying for the downfall of Bush and his supporters.

Both side says one or the other is reverse psychology while the other one is true.

It's all pretty much moot at this point.

No October surprise because October will be over in a 9 hours.

Moot.

National Security has taken a major backseat to the economy and people are finally getting over the constant fearmongering and cries of wolf of the last 7 years. So, really, it doesn't mean anything.

Exactly.

And thank you for not using the word "moot".

You say complacent, I say logical.
