Video Game Draft - Sign up

We are back in the busiest season for Video Games. New AAA titles are coming out almost weekly and what better way to celebrate than to make a list of our favorite video games of all time!

All consoles, all generations, all formats (except web based flash games).
I'd run this starting next week.

Anyone interested?

Well, you have plenty to read in this very same forum. Check them out and see if you like it.
The schedule would be next week, from monday to friday with a bonus round the following monday.
Timezones to be determined once we have all the players in place. But I'll do my best to accommodate everyone if you have problems with the time.

Tati: A RULES request - Each draft choice should have the following to be a valid choice:
- Name of the game
- Year of release
- Console(s) (if applicable)

I assume that if someone picks a game, it covers ALL versions of that game? So someone can't pick Madden 09 for the 360 and someone else pick it for the PS3?

You are correct Dickson.

Different Consoles are the same.
And i Agree Judas, i was going to request the full title, year of release and the format.

Also, Arcades are more than welcome. If someone picks an Arcade title that was later converted to consoles, it's the same pick. It covers all versions.

Expansion packs are counted within the same pick. (Half Life 2: episode 1 and 2 are covered in Half life 2).

Stuff like The Orange Box is counted as different Games (tf2, portal, Hl2 and expansions).

But we'll get more specific with rules later on.

Also, expansion packs probably shouldn't count as separate titles.

We'll need a ruling on the EA yearly titles as well. Can someone pick 'Madden 08' and someone else pick 'Madden 09'?

I was actually thinking about that one myself. Some of them are pretty drastic changes, but it's the same series. I'd go with allowing multiple entries. But i'm willing to put it to a vote.

I agree with Minsky. Specific years brought forth signifigant technological leaps. If someone makes a shitty pick, they'll have to defend it and take shit for it in the discussion thread.

I would like to participate, but I have yet to read a description of what exactly a draft is and how it works. Every time I ask, I get, "You draft movies," or some variant thereof. Waah waah. Boo hoo, et al.

But anything to have fun and increase my CHUD visibility rating.

I was thinking about this a while back, but considering Eileen's recent post I guess it's a no-go.

If it happens, I think it should be split up. Example: Day 1-Arcade, Day 2-Shooter(including FPS?), Day 3- RPG, Day 4- Sports, etc.

That was one idea that i considered as well. And another suggestion from J.Clark was dividing it in console generations.

But i think it's constricting people's choices. I'd like to see what people pick from all specters available.

Anyways, still waiting on Nick...
