McDrain-O! I wonder if there'd be a run on the stuff in that event. Would A&P be forced to keep it behind the Pharmacy counter with the cold medicines?

CHUD has more at stake in this election then anyone. If McCain wins, their readership will be dead on Wednesday morning.

It'll be like Jonestown, but with less in-jokes and fast food discussion.

Wanna come sleep on our couch, Hulk?

Also, are we going to need to set up some sort of suicide hotline/phone tree in the even that McCain clinches it?

"Swice, this is Zooey... Swice, please, turn off your car and get out of your garage. We need you for the good fight, man! This is no time to take the coward's way out!!"

Forgive me if this has been posted already, but according to The Jed Report, this is a live MSNBC news feed: link.

The first thing I see there is the Charmin Ultra bears. Where exactly did they put their cameras?

Luckily, I'm working late on Wednesday so I can stay up all night the night before until this has been decided.
The gf and kids will be asleep, so I'm relying on my fellow chewers to keep me company.
On the menu; fingernails and lite beer!

My parents condo had to hire extra security to handle you jackasses. If they went to all that effort, you guys better trash some stuff. Maybe you guys could all tip the Bean or something?

I'm in Liverpool UK and I've traken the Wednesday off to watch this unfold on the BBC all through the night. Got my bottle of Cardhu on standby and COD4 on xboxlive for when I find myself flagging.

Until about 3 years ago I was never interested in politics at all, but I've now found myself really interested in UK politics and now this US presidential election really has gripped me. I find it strange that none of my friends are interested in this contest of who will become the most powerful man in the world.

Like I say, I'll be following this all night on UK TV so if anyone following it is on Xbox live, give me a poke.

And regardless of who you vote for, make sure you do go out and vote. Generations fought and died for your right to.

I wish you all and your country all the best.

I took Tuesday off to help GOTV, so I'll drag my corpse home and go to bed early. I've been invited to a couple of parties, but I'll be at home alone instead. I do not have the nerves to wait for each state's results to come in, and I will not be fit company if the results do not break my way. Whatever happens Tuesday night, Wednesday will be a blur of gin.

CHUD would be the streets of Manhattan in 'I am Legend' and Snaike the sole Chewer.

I'd consider myself one of the zombie things he has to cure.

At least then you'd live up to your name.

My girlfriend and I are having people over tomorrow night, but I'm disappointed that everyone who's going to be here is pulling for Obama. I might have to play Devil's advocate to get some interesting conversation.
I have to imagine that with an Obama win. Grant Park will become that final scene in that episode of the Simpsons with Rodney Dangerfield where everyone suddenly gets liqour and rocks out to Journey's "Any way you want it".

Just think. After his election win speech Obama just turns to the camera and says. "Hey everyone, we're gonna get laid!"

I liked this piece on the historical resonance of Obama holding Election Night festivities in Grant Park.

I really wish I lived closer to a lot of you guys. I have no one here that wants to go out... :/

I'm leaving the house at 5:30a to walk to the polls, vote, then come back home for breakfast, etc. before heading out to canvass/drive for Obama's GOTV for however long. I'm planning on swinging back by my polling place to see how things are going - if the lines are long, probably go grab some water and donuts and stuff and hand 'em out.

I figure I'll be back home around 7pm. Will constantly refresh Sage, watch the returns on MSNBC, switch over to Stewart/Colbert, then back to MSNBC. Hang out in CHUDchat to see if anyone swings by, and IM friends who don't live here.

I'll be drinking Stoli Vanil (privyet, Comrades!) and ginger ale. If someone up near MI would be willing to pop some Vernor's overnight to me, I'd be much appreciative!

sending this from my buddy's iPhone from grant park. Not an easy task. I'll update if anything cool occurs

I am totally envious of all of you chewers living in the greater Chicago area right now.
still in line. They're funnelling everyone through the same queue. But people are bouyant, excited by the excellent vote count.
Ah, back. Finally... My friend's iPhone was close to dead. The keypad is kind of annoying. I think I'm gonna get a Google phone

Got into Hutchinson Field right as they were calling VA for Obama. We ran toward the field and the crowd erupted. I must admit I was hit with a wave of euphoria. It was quite a sight to take in.

We pushed our way through the crowd but stood pretty far back. There were barriers set up allover the field. (I have some crappy pics that I might post.) Ran into a few friends. Actually, I always seem to run into the same random people. Weird.

The speech was not a rousing piece of soaring rhetoric. It was serious and it seemed like it was a call to his supporters to take it to the next level. "Hey, the election's over. Now let's get to work!" (sigh, grumble....)

I went to the event with some co-workers and we all sorta looked at each other and agreed "I think I want to take a pay cut and quit my job. Suddenly our company is a stupid thing to waste time on."

So if that was BO's goal, it kinda worked. It's a somewhat impressive thing for him to not bask in all the well-earned glory, but to instead take the opportunity to make his acceptance speech about working hard and persevering. Not sure where an Obama presidency will lead, but it's off to a gritty start.

I know, I'm really curious what kind of movement he intends to build. I believe him when he asks for our help, and as someone who is on the fence about where I want to take my life (currently applying to law school but to what end?), I find his plea quite inspiring.

It was amazing being there. Sure wish I could've stayed out and celebrated, but gotta go make some money tomorrow.

You should do something civic-minded. I'm sure it will be tough, even grueling work, but it could be most rewarding thing you've ever done.

This administration might be the gentle shove I need to actually balls-up and go into social work.
I completely agree that all of you should abandon your selfish goals/career and enter the civic/social arena.

**edited to add: Detroit should be your target.

Not again...

BTW: I remember being sent a video gloating about bush winning in 2004.

It would be great if somebody would alter this video by adding Obama images.

You're evil.

Let it be known that I officially beat Overlord to that joke.

Kthx.

Yeah... Get it, I do not.

I'm not gonna post a pornographic amount of pics from the rally, but I thought some of you might appreciate a taste.

This was Michigan Ave after the rally, facing north. That building with the USA lights usually does stuff when there are major events in Grant Park.

This was as close as we got, the proverbial cheap seats. As you can see on the JumboTron, BO is working the teleprompter. The podium was pretty much blocked by that guy holding the Obama sign, not that I would've seen anything had he not been holding it up.

Hutchinson Field was actually more crowded than it was for Radiohead, but given how sober most people were, there wasn't as much chaos. We were all drunk on hope. (awww...)
