Moratorium on drafts - Page 4

"All of this happened before and all of it will happen again."
So there's too much film discussion on the boards. But it's the wrong kind of film discussion. So there's really not enough film discussion.

My avatar is more than appropriate for the current policies enforced right now.
Really? Four pages on this? All she said was give it a break for the rest of the year. That's two months. Nobody's banned anything - nobody's said you can't do them, just give it a breather - again, for only two months. Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist?
So, as someone asked earlier, what happens if someone starts a draft before the end of the year?

And with all the other shit that gets run into the ground around here, you'd think something that was at least related to film wouldn't get stomped on.

Why is Nick getting his knickers in a twist about drafts?

Aren't you guys doing video games next? How is that film related?
Butler,
Because there was a momentum of fun, interesting film discussion building with all the recent drafts. Then you guys had to cockblock it for no good reason.

Doesn't CHUD cover video games? I seem to remember some excellent pieces from Cassady and Alex in that area.

I dunno.
Ask the guy who built an entire forum for it.

I forgot that CHUD never talks about video games.
Besides, this whole thing isn't really about a moratorium on drafts, per se. I mean, I never do them. It's more the principle of a Ripoll sitcom I'm interested in.

I don't know who "you guys" is. I've never participated in a draft and really have no emotional stake in their existence (or lack thereof). I can't speak to the quality of discussion or wether or not they served any purpose. The reason for the moratorium is essentially between Nick and Eileen. All I wonder is why everyone's flipping the fuck out because they can't do yet another precious draft for 60 whole days.
Butler,
Same answer, replace "you guys" with "Nick and/or Eileen"
What's that got to do with the argument that it makes for good film discussion? Pick a point and stick with it.

There are so few rules here. When the guy who runs the place asks one thing - that the drafts take a breather for 60 days - you start to act like your civil rights are being removed. I guess it really is a good thing that I don't have mod powers, because I would be much more strict on the boards.
That would make you evil.
Why aren't the pro-draft people taking this obvious stance: it's foolhardy to try and prevent people from ruining things on the internet. That's what the web is for.
Bottom line, I was told by Nick (via Eileen) to hold off on my Rock Band draft until January. It's his site and I will respect those wishes, regardless of whether or not I agree with them.

And yet another post you shouldn't have written!
Also, this break from drafts will give you guys time to work on your Thanksgiving CD swap, Hanukkah gift swap, holiday mix swap and Christmas gift swap.

In essence, Eileen and Nick are doing you a favor.

hahaha
You're exaggerating, Devin. Asking questions and offering reasons why the drafts should be allowed is hardly overreacting.
Now if I called you and Nick shortsighted douchebags with serious control issues, that might be overreacting. But I sure didn't do that.

Fair enough. As for you, you could work on this:

By the way, Bob is right: where's the overreacting? nick wants to give this thing a breather? That's cool. And all that dialog was civil, so far.
It's four pages of whining.
Martin Savage: I have no fucking clue who you are. Can you point me to whatever biting and hilarious thing I said to/about you that's pissed you off this much? I'd appreciate it. Also, biking is my exercise of choice. Feel free to edit your post.
This fight will rage for another hour or two until the first exit polls are released showing Obama in the lead then we will all freeze and remember what's really important and hug each other and have monkey sex.

Except for Ripoll who won't be able figure out how to use the Orgy Lube dispenser.
Four pages of whining and bad jokes.
Yeah, really. This didn't help at all.

Whatever you could bring before to the boards, I don't know. You have 8000+ posts, so there's that, but in the last few years you're popping here and there, whining, bitching, and then disappear for a few months. You don't post in any active threads except those like these. This is worse than Fabfunk. At least the fucker would sometime blurb about movies. ANY MOVIES.
Savage is a savage today.
Seriously, this discussion is over, though there really wasn't much of a discussion to begin with. How do you guys not understand that? That's what I don't get.
Well, Flyarz is trying to act like Devin, but he isn't. Anyway, I'm out of this thread.
No, Flyarz is amused that people are stupid.
Let's just blame this thread on it being Election Day.

Oohh! I did a grammatical error in my second language! Christ! And I insulted of of your friend! That's the price I pay for posting at work I guess. Flyarz is still a douchebag.
Wow, ragging on Martin because of a typo? Well played, gentlemen, well played, indeed. That's the trademark wit I'd expect from the literati of these boards.
Not everyone is as quick with the edit button as Dre is when they make a grammatical error in a post.
Martin's in Montreal. Cut him some English typo slack. Let love into your hearts.

And yeah, holy shit to Dre pointing out a typo.
Everyone makes grammatical errors, but not all of them are funny in the context of a discussion. This one is.
Fuck the Ripoll sitcom, let's make one on my grammatical errors!
Andre criticizing someone's typo is like Bush criticizing someone's diplomatic strategy.
I'm from Montréal and my grammar is fucking SOLID.

You guys could be roommates, and he'd be bothered by a phone message you wrote that "You're Dad's have called," but he'd refuse to tell you about it.
You kids buzz like a fridge.
This is the second forum I've been to where a thread derailed into a grammar mistake thread. Once again, it has to be because it's Election Day.
