I couldn't agree more, Kirby. The draft ban was a bad idea, and I'm glad to see it was reversed.

I really agree with both sides on this. Banning stuff is ghey. If there's a forum called Drafts & Lists, why not use it.

But I can't say I'm a fan of the diluting of the drafts either.

I guess I should book the 60's draft for sometime after Easter 2009?

Dre and I actually have the Craft Service draft scheduled for after Easter '09, Kirbs. Probably will have to push yours to mid-summer.

For the record - while the ban on drafts is 'lifted', you're going to still want to run those ideas past Nick and/or Eileen. Because Nick gave approval to Tati's Video Game draft, Eileen has given me her approval to do my Rock Band draft. I will probably hold off on doing that until the first of the year, though.

Why don't we just police ourselves? Got a great idea for a draft? Let a couple of weeks go by after the last one ends before bringing it up.

Well, Chud "Government" has continually demonstrated itself to be petty, hilariously thin skinned, possibly bi-polar, and generally full of shit. So...is it really a shock? Who the fuck even knows what they want?

We've already had Butter Tits and his dick sucking entourage do their part in this thread. The only thing missing from this thread is Nunizata popping in to whine about how much the boards suck.

My love/relationship with this site really spends a lot more time on the hate side. The leadership and organization here is so fucking godawful and inept that it's pathetic.

The "Chud Gov." on the boards is generally less than a handful of people who close threads when they've gone retarded, or ban people when they've done something beyond the pale. Otherwise, people tend to do what they want. Generally all that's asked is that threads are put in the right place, and that they stay on topic. Mostly.

Unfortunately, when any requests are made, people usually react like their rights are being violated.

I can't comment objectively on this issue really. On one hand, I have problems with authority so I hate all the banning and thread closing and all that crap. Always have. But I think Chud is pretty laid back about most things.

And then I was running the decade drafts and can't say I liked how they got watered down and all. But hey, that's my own ego. I'm not in charge around here.

I think people need to realize that the drafts were a big thing on the site and Nick always had oversight on them. It wasn't a continuing thing --- it was when Nick set them up. Twice a year was a lot. I got the original decade draft approved by Nick and while I can't speak for him, I imagine since I was involved the drafts on this site from day one, he was comfortable with me running them...and not running them into the ground. So I think if y'all understand all that and respect it, things will be fine going forward.

I can't say this makes any future decade drafts look all that promising. I'm not being spiteful but if I have to fit one of those drafts into some slot somewhere, I doubt I'll have the initiative to make them happen.

I only participate in Kirby's drafts. They don't come along often and when they do they're a blast. I admit I rolled my eyes when I saw there was a new draft seemingly every week, and I can understand the mods not wanting to run them into the ground.

However it's simple for me to ignore them and just keep an eye out for Kirby's next draft, and if people are enjoying the drafts, it is a draft forum.

I think the mods should get the last word since they do such a great job, but I also think they can do a better job of explaing themselves other than, "btw - draft moratorium, kthxbai"

I'm really trying to think of any other board I've been on where an attack on the site and moderators like that would be tolerated. It's pretty insane that people complain about us when we let shit like that go.

Too bad Kirby's post wasn't the first one. He doesn't even work here and he managed to explain things frankly and diplomatically. Just think, we could have avoided 6 pages of this nonsense and nobody would have upset poor Ripoll and Butter Tits.

I've read this thread and still find no reason why these drafts serve any meaningful purpose. I could see if they were limited to and for the purpose of furthering film discussion, but Video Games? Really?
