It's a good book. Not great, but there's no a lot of time-dilatation stories out there. The way you see Earth grow through the protagonist is weird, and you become as detached as he is by it. The Vietnam allegory is the source of the book, and plays well in this case, as it's still pertinent today.

It's interesting from a certain angle, though I don't quite like his take on homosexuality.

I think Forever Peace is a better book, however it's not as well thought out as this one.

Its actually a trilogy ...
the forever war ..not bad some very interesting ideas

forever peace .. expands on the first book and works ok

forever free ..omg what the hell was he smoking one of the worst books by an author i like that ive ever read if your any fan of the forever war do not read this because you just wont believe how he has decided to complete the series ...totally negates and fucks over the first 2 books
