Jesus...some of those posts are simply terrifying. I felt dirty just being there.

I'm reading these comments and I can't fuckin wait until Ohio is called. My favorite part of this election, and emblematic of the campaign, is that they wouldn't let the people at their victory party watch the results come in. Ohio is called and they're watching Hank Williams Jr.

ETA: I like how they claim PA could only be won by fraud... 98% reporting PA is up 500K votes.
Quote:
Fox News called PA for Obama. Barone urged caution, but they called it.

It’s over. Obama won. I’m sure the votes will be counted in ways that toss out (fraud) the Rep votes and only count the Dem ones. He won by 99.999999%! Kim Jong Il could not have done better.

Elector in Thief.

I think it’s about time Bush appointed a Special Prosecutor to look into Obama’s Rezko Deal, also Auntie-Gate and what Obama knew about her crimes, when he knew it, and how he covered it up.

Look, the Media wanted the “Magical Negro” (ala Spike Lee’s criticism of “the Green Mile” and “Bagger Vance.”) They really believe that stuff. Most people just followed along. Fox News is projecting MURTHA is re-elected.

It’s just over. Time for Plan B — Special Prosecutor. Appoint Fitz. MAKE Obama fire him.
I'm so glad his guy lost.

really need another forum to gloat? geez...too many to keep track here.

This is really an education. After two close Republican presidential wins and 12 years of Republican congressional wins (94-06) they still think the GOP is a hapless victim.

Oh, the joys of Dirty Harry's Place.

I like that they're now turning on him for having a modicum of grace in congratulating Obama, and saying he wishes him well.

My favorite post over at Dirty Harry's:

You know, despite being pro-Second Amendment, I’m very very glad tonight that I don’t own a gun. Because I know what my mind is like, and I’m not safe around firearms.

If I had a gun, the barrel would be in my mouth right now. That’s all you need to know.

Think about it. While you are thinking about it, pick up and read a copy of the "Art of War". I have posted a PDF copy here. Many of the lessons of Sun Tzu are applicable to us. It is time for the sleeping tigers to awaken!

What did that Elizabeth chick on The View have to say? Is she in mortal fear of her life now that "someone who can't be trusted" is going to be the next president?

That awful cunt will do like the rest and take back half the shit she said, gritting her teeth as she plots a way to get off that show.

Frankly, I don't see a need to gloat. You can see these guys are in the early stages of destroying themselves anyway, arguing over which branch of the Republican party is to blame. The ones who have some kind of grip on reality, who are aware that they lost fair and square, are being shouted down by the hysterical freaks.

Plus they have all the intellectual prowess of a couple of tuxedo-wearing white supremicists, so where's the satisfaction? I particularly love the brilliant plans in Dickson's linked thread to not buy anything for 8 years and thereby crash the economy. Or the unironic use of the Patriot Act political cartoon.

Are they seriously quoting Rage Against the Machine? These people are dumb.

Not surprisingly, Dirty Harry deleted my rather well worded comment. Guess they didn't like me pointing out why the Bush Administration has garnered so much scorn. Or probably the last bit:

Quote:
To those people who want "payback" by rubbing your hands together, waiting for Obama to screw up so you can be vindicated in some small, pathetic way. That is your right. Just don't be surprised when you find yourself left alone in the dark.

Because you will be.

My absolute favourite quote from that Dirty Harry place:

Quote:
However, I can say with complete confidence that if every American had read Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series, McCain-Palin would be planning their moves to Washington right now. It’s that powerful.

That's also why I'm not particularly worried about these guys wielding immense grassroots political power again anytime soon.

what the hell does that bad book series have to do with the McCain-Palin election?

now thats just fucking funny.
The quote of the election, hands-down.
Wiki says that

Quote:
The Sword of Truth series also offers a stark contrast between Objectivist and socialist or collectivist beliefs in its portrayal of political dynamics.
It's so simple!!1!
Today when I went to lunch, I walked past the Veterans for McCain office as they were skulking and tearing down the office downtown. I sort of leaned in the doorway and gave them my best "How about that Sarah Palin, HEH!? How 'bout the job she did, HEH!? HEH!?"

They didn't like.
Reading that Wiki statement almost made me want to reach for a gun.
New favorite. It's long, but here's the gist of it.

Quote:
I have seen the enemy. And now I know whom to aim at. It is the Republican Party. Which is why I will now contact Governor Palin and humbly offer my services to her. I am a former Alaskan - I am single - I am articulate and organized, etc. And I will now offer her my services for how she shall deem me worthy. I know the heavy task that lies ahead of her.

Palin has seen the enemy, from the inside. She knows its evil, she’s smelled it at close quarters. So there’s a woman who damned well knows the enemy. And knows how deep its sickness and corruption have sunk, knows how far into the bone the cancer has eaten. I will not have to tell her that the RNC is too far gone to save. She knows it. Knows she will have to create the Conservative Party...

Yesterday made me stronger because it showed me the enemy. And knowledge is priceless. Without this bitter knowledge of yesterday, I could not make the hard decisions of today. I am going to Palin, I am leaving the Republican Party forever (well, hell, it actually left me years ago) and I am going to help Palin in creating a new army of righteous warriors. She will be its leader. We will gather others along the way - and God is on our side...

God bless each and every one of you. I announce my battle. I have chosen my leader and I am throwing in my lot with her. I am jobless, alone, and I live in a city infamous for its debauchery and sin which has just overwhelmingly voted to place an evil man and his hate-filled wife in the Oval Office. Frankly, my dears, I’ve never been in a worse situation.
I question her assertion that she is articulate and organized.

Also... how exactly does she want to service Sarah Palin?

So this is the official right wing meltdown thread? If so, lemme get some popcorn.....
I saw on another board where someone bragged about changing their Facebook message deal to "another Darkie in government housing"

Said person thought is was "hilarious" I just weep. There really is a violent undercurrent among some of these hardliners that I fear. It has nothing to do with their own morality or value system and everything to do with projecting hate and venom towards those not like them.

Red State has just instituted Operation: Leper. The gist is that if you were against Palin, then you are not a real Republican. Welcome to the fringe Republican Party. Hope you enjoyed your time in the mainstream.....

These are the people that really hate America, all aggressive made-in-China-flag-waving aside.
Hehehehe. It's their turn now. It's their turn to bitch and moan for eight years. And yes, I am very confident Obama will be re-elected. Especially if Palin is who the Republican party props up, but I highly doubt we'll be hearing from her ever again.

I can only see Obama getting Reagan '80 numbers or Carter '80 numbers depending on how this term hashes out. I'm just wondering what the Republicans see in Palin. Did they pretty much fall in love with her at the RNC and literally stop following her speeches and interviews?

I am not promising Obama my vote until he delivers on some results. I drank the Kool Aid two years ago but it doesn't last for six whole years.

Good idea. He might twiddle his thumbs for four years.

I guess this is a good place to ask. I wasn't this interested in the previous elections so I don't have a frame of reference but were reactions to past elections this crazy? Of course they come from the extremes of the political spectrum but they seem monstrously blown out of proportions. I mean, over here we're just 60 years away from our last civil war and 24 years from our last military dictatorship and we're much more controlled in our reaction when our party loses.
There was excitement when Clinton got elected the first time -- we were coming out of twelve years of Republican presidency -- but it was nowhere near the euphoria you saw on Tuesday night. Not even close.

In 1996... no one was surprised. Dole never really had a chance.

In 2000 the reaction was kind of stunned anger among the left because of what happened in Florida. We didn't realize what we had yet in Bush: the savior of the Democrtaic Party.

In 2004 the reaction was more resigned sulkiness. Bush won a much clearer victory, we were no longer surprised by the voting tendencies of our people.
To add:

In 1992, Clinton won against a split right-wing. Perot took more votes from HW Bush, allowing Clinton to win a decisive electoral college victory without winning over 50% of the popular vote.

No Democrat has won over 50.1% pop vote in over 40 years. This year's vote was much more of a mandate for Obama, and as much a repudiation of conservative ideology as I've seen in my lifetime.
