This thread is stealing bandwidth - there could be another thread featuring Kate Winslet's naked ass here. Please stop.

Compared to Monica Belucci, she's a fucking skank. Get your head out of your ass.

Why not fuck both of them? WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE A COMPETITION?

I know who I'm voting for, but I want the Chewers to have their say first.

Banks vs LeFors?
Actually, let's start a new draft:

Chewers Who Would Win a Fight with Banks:

1. Ripoll

WNEW-TV became WNYW-TV in 1986.

The original post had been that WPIX did not have "nothing" as claimed by InTheShadows because they were the flagship station running the syndicated packages of Shaw Brothers films distributed at the time by World Northal Corporation in the US.

This, in fact, was total FAIL, as they actually aired on WNEW:

WPIX had a rival package of Golden Harvest films - close but no cigar.

Therefore I pick WNEW.

We'll just set aside the fact that Gordon Liu in MASTER KILLER (36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN) doesn't actually "kill the rest", and indeed MASTER KILLER is a wholly inappropriate name for THE 36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN. For a decade-plus, bootlegs of old off-the-air recordings of those WNEW broadcasts were the only way to see the classic Shaw action films - the studio had pulled its catalog out of circulation.

Kung Fu Theater...that takes me back to Saturday mornings in the early 80s. I LIVED for these films.

There really needs to be an all-Kung Fu station for DirectTV.

Can you not get Kung Fu HD on DirectTV? I know I can't get it on Time Warner and it's the only place in the world outside of Britain where you can see a properly subbed, uncut PEKING OPERA BLUES.

My dad would play those fucking Channel 5 Drive-In Theater movies SO LOUDLY that I would get a psychosomatic headache for years afterward any time I saw a squished anamorphic kung fu movie.

Reggie: I'll look into that when I get home; I didn't even know it existed. I'd pay good money to be able to see 'The Kid with the Golden Arm' in HD.

This thread is the CHUD equivalent of the scene in Cuckoo's Nest where McMurphy fakes the World Series game.

First pick:

They've had (and still have) more movies than HBO, T&A galore every night, an insanely 80's-friendly intro which played before my aunt's old VHS recording of the first Batman, Max Headroom hawking their shit, and again, a shitload of nudity.

Cinemax

WPIX is an awesome pick, because I owe my C- high school average to their late night lineup of The Odd Couple, The Honeymooners, Star Trek, and The Twilight Zone (I think Barney Miller sometimes started the whole party at 10:30). These days I have my Tivo rounding up episodes of Trek and TZ, and I'll sometimes fall asleep to them out of nostalgia.

WPIX also had this square old news dude delivering 2 minute (just before Odd Couple), dry editorial responses to some kind of issue, but he was so droll and dry I can't for the life of me recall the topic of one.

Also? Yule Log.

Lastly? Magic Garden. WPIX had NOTHING? Get the fuck outta here.

EDIT! Found the editorial guy's info.

More recent (post-1977 or so) Chewers will also remember (as I do) WPIX for the home of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and G.I. Joe. Also, Shocktober.

In that promo (circa 1992 I think) you'll see some prime 80's horror fare was gonna show up (NOES 3, Jason Lives, Deadly Friend, The Lost Boys, Twilight Zone: The Movie), but WTF do Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Blade Runner have to do with horror? The latter is admittedly a classic, but come on, not the most boring Star Trek of them all (well that and Star Trek V).
