We both worked for NYPIRG, and so did a certain president-elect!


Barack Obama as a NYPIRG Project Coordinator at City College with former student Board Chair Mitsu Klos (Spring 1985).

I enjoy the fact my gym teacher from high school and the President-elect are from the same college.

But that is awesome.

I worked for the NYPIRG (stationed in Port Jefferson) during the summer of '87, between freshman and sophomore years at college. Garbage incineration was the big cause back then. At one residence I came across two older teens teaching their younger brother how to smoke pot on the side of the house; they hid the pipe when they saw me but I smelled it and laughed and asked if I could have some, so they got me nice and high before I continued my canvassing activities. I was largely ineffective for the rest of the afternoon.
