Futurama: Bender's Game

Didn't see a thread. What'd we think?

I didn't hate Beast With a Billion Backs the way some around here did, but it was undeniably disappointing (writer's strike casualty?) I thought this was both funnier and more cohesive. Of course, the first half is significantly better than the fantasy parody, which was supposedly the reason for the story in the first place, so that's got to be a bit of a demerit. Once again the concepts were quite solid, especially the Die of Power, it's just the actual humour was lacking.

Best major gag: Bender's relaxation therapy. Actually everything in the robot asylum was pretty much golden.

I've only been able to find one copy of this and the disc was loose inside the box so I passed. Very eager to see it though.

Watched it today. I agree that it was more cohesive and much better than Beast, but not as good as Big Score.

Besides, any good Shaft joke automatically is worth the price of admission.

The disk was probably not loose in the box, there are cards that are loose. The disk is in a cardboard sleeve.

I was with this for the first half or so. It wasn't classic Futurama, but it was making me laugh. But once they went into the fantasy world? I literally didn't laugh once the rest of the movie. Not a single time. Didn't even crack a smile. It was boring. cliche, and unfunny.

Futurama wasn't cut out for these movie length/multiple episode things. It just wasn't. It works in small, self-contained doses. These movies have all been dissapointing on one level or another. This was somewhat better than the Beast With a Billion Backs (Which was awful on every level), but still not great.

The thing about the movies is that even when they don't make me laugh I still find something about them to enjoy. The movies certainly aren't as funny as the TV show but there's always substance to them. I grant that as a comedy, Futurama should be making me laugh at every turn, but the writing is strong enough that I can forgive the lack/failure of comedic beats.

That said there's a lot of stuff in here I enjoyed-- like Prankster the robot asylum stuff had me in stitches. And as a huge fantasy fan, the Cornwood half of the film was hilarious, if somewhat cliched.

Got this for Christmas and finally watched it this past weekend. I'll have to watch the other two again but I'm leaning twords this one being the best of the three. The last half hour (the LOTR/Fantasy stuff) was a little weak as was the total lack of Zapp Brannigan. But otherwise a pretty solid outing.

Pretty much agree with everyone here. Anyone else annoyed by the crappy packaging? I have this and Bender's Big Score and the cardboard sleeves leave a lot to be desired.

"Easy" fix for the shit packaging for these(and There Will Be Blood), get some slim CD cases, and put the discs in those. They'll still fit in the package(not in the cardboard sleeve though).

I've enjoyed all three of these, Bender's Big Score is still the only one that feels at all like a movie though.

Nice tip. I have There Will Be Blood as well, so I will probably try that out.

Definitely the best of the three. Even the fantasy parody was ok even though it was a few years too late. The Beast With A Billion Backs had me worried we were heading for a Simpsons size dissapointment.
