Phil Hendrie?

Anyone here a fan? His "New" show is, sadly, more of a "real" talk show. But the old stuff... my god. The man's a genius, and if you've never had the pleasure of pissing yourself silly listening to his talk/call-in show... do yourself a favor go to his site and sign up for a subscription or hit up a torrent site.

Actually, torrents are good because they're far more comprehensive. Of particular brilliance are the "Vernon Dozier" and "Ted Bell" compilations.

Loved him. Never cared for Bobbie Dooley or Margaret Grey. But damn did he great stuff (Especially Art Bell and Peenman Enterprises) And his screams were hilarious.

I used to listen to him when I lived in Miami Beach. His best call was a guy on the run from the police with an infant held hostage, and the guy on the run goes, "Don't worry. The baby's Mexican."

I actually enjoy Bobbie Dooley. I love the constant "mmmhmm, mmmhmmm, mmmmhmm" while callers are trying to talk.

Vernon Dozier has to be my favorite though. I loved the Halloween one from right after 9/11 when he was threatening all his neighbors if they didn't participate in Halloween. "If you live in MY neighborhood, you WILL have candy for the boy. And if you don't, you better be inside sweatin' and prayin'."

Oh, and Herb Sewell.

The new incarnation is nowhere near as good as when I first started hearing him on KFI in the 90's. But it's still worth a listen every now and again for his interplay with Bud Dickman.

I get that he wants to do a more conventional show, but that's a tough sell when he spent so much time doing a show that broke all conventions.

Damnit, I was hoping this thread was gonna be about Paul Henreid. (Walks away sadly)

A co-worker just introduced me to this guy's stuff with this one:

His "pre-recorded" voice cracks me up.
