This is probably one of the least appreciate of the Karloff/Lugosi movies, but I like it. Even though Karloff and Lugosi never share a scene together. Basically it is a horror/gangster movie rolled into one. Karloff is a mad scientist who happens to witness the car crash death of the gangster Red Cannon, who runs down Karloff's friend in the process. Karloff secrets the bodies away and transplants some of the gangsters brains into his friends brains to save his friend. Of course, this creates a jekyl/hyde setup where Karloff's friend is alternately his mild mannered old self, and sometimes possesed by Red Cannon the gangster. When Cannon takes over, he enacts revenge on his old gang who killed him-- an old gang led by Lugosi.

I love Lugosi as a gangster, think it is real nice. But I was disappointed by his apparent death in the movie-- it's not clear what happens, but it seems he either suffocated in a closet, or had a heart attack, or maybe Red Cannon killed him offscreen after he killed his girlfriend
