My bonus picks:
ARCADE GAMES:
1. Rainbow Islands (Bubble Bobble 2)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elmsl3jSOvM
Cute overload! But firing rainbows, offing mini-frankensteins, and an Arkanoid tribute level? Sold.
2. Wizard Of Wor (1980)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHwx-I-a2kI
Great design, chunky sounds, and early 2-player mayhem where you can either work in team or shoot the crap out of eachother... I still play it from time to time.
PINBALL GAME:
Ok, so I cheat. Never been a pinball player, and over here those machines were never that popular anyway, I can't name any one I even remember.
So I chose a quality software pinball from back in the days:
Pinball Dreams (Amiga, 1992)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1PczA5o9bE
BONUS FREE PICKS:
1. Project Firestart (C64, 1989)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1Kgi3sH0B8
The birth of survival horror! And remains a terrifically atmospheric game to this date. Gameplay may be too obtuse for nowaday tastes, but have a go at it with a walkthrough and you're good to go. Check the creepy soundfx on the vid... class.
2. Shining Force 2 (Genesis, 1994)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18kSyC1ZCHM
Can't believe it wasn't picked in this draft. Classic turn-based strategy, epic story, deep yet intuitive gameplay. An instant classic.
