New Springsteen/E Street - Working On A Dream - January 27 - Page 2

Based on reports from Tampa (rehearsals, sound checks, etc.), the setlist is supposed to be ... oh, hell, I better inviso-text this in case people want to be surprised ...

Working on a Dream
10th Avenue Freeze Out
Glory Days
Born to Run

That's according to the posters at Backsteets, anyway. (And nobody's exactly sure of the order the songs will be played.)

By the way, I don't think that's nearly the best setlist they could have assembled. I'd have gone with:

The Rising
My Lucky Day
Badlands
Born to Run

Born to Run was a given, as was something from the new album, but I can't really complain with Tenth Avenue and Glory Days.

I'd agree, though I've seen either of those songs take the entire twelve minutes themselves.

I did wonder about The Rising-- seemed a bit heavy for the occasion, but I thought the Obama connection made it a good bet.

As for Badlands? Geez, I love the song, but the fact that it's stayed in the setlist long after a dozen others I love equally has left, means that I honestly won't miss it.

Actually, Glory Days worked way better than I thought it would. Maybe because they played it last. (I was expecting Born to Run in that slot). Definitely a killer halftime show from the best band on the planet.

The amazing half time show:

Part 2: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=qjbSD6OImjU

The links probably won't last long. NBC/Universal is pretty strict with getting their stuff removed from YouTube.

I was not that impressed by it, to be honest. The slide into the camera was a great move, but it lacked the energy of some of the HBO concerts. Kind of disappointing, really.

Just got two floor tix for Pittsburgh. I had no problems getting them online, though I've already read that others are having trouble connecting. I think I'm gonna show up early, try to get in the pit this year, even though I'm probably too old for that. (Then again, it is Springsteen, not Fallout Boy or some shit. I'm plenty young enough!)

I don't know how you can say that performance lacked energy.

Yeah, I'm not even a big fan and i found the show to be amazing.

I didn't know the E Street Band was formed by all Late Night Hosts Sidekicks.

Tix for San Jose go onsale today, but right now a hundred bucks is just not practical. With one exception (Seeger band), I haven't missed a Springsteen tour since I first saw him in '75. Got lucky on the Magic tour, as I got a ticket as a birthday present, but frankly unless that happens again, I may have seen my last Springsteen show.

Guess I shouldn't complain-- I've seen more of his shows than most people (though far fewer than some folks)--but it's a shame that going to shows is just getting more and more out of reach.

As for the Super Bowl show, I was surprised and impressed by the edits to get four songs in there. Energy? I'd be hard pressed to think of any performer I've ever seen that could start at that level, and build on it to that climax, in only twelve minutes. Can't even imagine what more energy would have looked like.

Made me recall that the first time I ever Bruce use one of his own songs as the final encore in a show was 1985, in L.A., the last show of the Born in the USA tour, and that time it was also "Glory Days."

I really liked the show.

Yeah, I thought it was funny to see so many guys from Late Night there, But it's not surprising considering Max is Conans band leader.

as for the new album. I like it. But there just isn't anything as grabbing as "Girls in their Summer Clothes", "Radio Nowhere" and "Living in the Future" off of the Magic Album.
