Damn I hate to do this...BUT the new Nickelback...

Isn't complete shit! In fact, with the exception of three or four of their typical crap ballads (I guess they still need the guaranteed-to-get-laid-each-show songs,) it's a pretty rocking album. I would not typically bother checking out a Nickelback album for obvious reasons; and number one being I like good music, but I saw that they got Mutt Lange to produce, so I figured it would at least be interesting. It is. I guess one could make a pretty solid rockin' album by taking their handful of decent/good songs from each album, and skipping over the pap/ballads they keep crapping out. Take it for what it's worth, and with a grain of salt, but I'll give credit where credit is due on this one. It's a not bad/decent album. For Nickelback, that's a pretty big deal to me.

Dude, their lead single starts with the line "Got to meet the hottie with the million dollar body"

This entire band can go suckstart a shotgun.
There was that one song with a Dimebag solo, though not even he could save it from mediocrity.

So this is Nickelback's My Own Prison? Still shit, but it won't make you bleed from your ears if you're forced to listen to it?

Nope, still don't want to hear it.
Fuck, why can't the shitty musicians ever kill themselves once in a while? Or at least succumb to nerve-wracking depression and anxiety, which would keep them off the stages and out of the recording studios...oh well. I rarely have to hear the radio anymore. And even still, it's usually the college stations when driving - if only Silver Apples and The Fall would queue up one after the other more often, in perfect synchronization with the moment...I even heard the Dolls on the classic rock station this weekend. The world must be moving past this Nickelback shit, slowly but surely...not one person who actually Listens to tunes can enjoy it. I can't always relate to my buddies' tastes in music, but we all agree on what's shit. If a turd landed on your dinner plate, would you bother to ask the cook if it was actually food? I guess it could be for some people, but I'd hope you weren't polite enough to eat feces. Just don't think about! It's good music! Really! Fuck. These bands are cackling behind our backs while Nick Drake's tombstone gathers flowers. He wouldn't have offed himself if more didn't waste their time listening to the warm sizzle of poo.

I knew it would be a hard sell. Maybe I'm just getting soft, but I have a hard time hating things these days that probably deserve to be hated - like Nickelback. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by how non-crappy it was to me. Obviously, trying to convince anyone that cares about good music that a Nickelback album might actually not completely suck is not an easy thing to do.

P.S. - And I still hate the SHIT out of Creed. But that 2nd Alter Bridge album was pretty decent.

no.

Eileen, can we ban Chad Kroeger again?

I've heard the lead singer is a really nice guy who lets poor musicians use his billion dollar studio for free.

That is the only nice thing you will ever hear me say about Nickelback.

Nickle Creek, on the other hand, is a band worth listening to, in my opinion.

Yep. Helluva nice guy. Still have no desire to ever listen to them again but you won't hear me say a bad thing about Kroeger as a person.

On behalf of all Canadians....we're really sorry about Nickelback. Really really really sorry.

Miasta, when listening to Nickleback, loves torturing puppies and eating babies.

Seriously, what the fuck? I'm not a separatist, but I'd want Quebec out of Canada just because of these fuckers.

Sorry, Martin, they were created in a factory as a thank you to the people of Quebec for Celine Dion.

How is THAT a thank you? That feels like an even bigger GFY-motion to the people who had to endure Goat-Lady's brayings on the Titanic soundtrack.

Did I ever tell you guys Celine Dion was once in my family (she was pretty unknown then)? And she cradled me once as a baby? It might explain some things....

The existence of Nickelback is merely the cosmos balancing out the sheer awesomeness of Rush.

Wow. I don't see it, but still mind-blowing.

The only thing I'll ever say about Celene Dion is that I'm pretty sure this is a picture of her sucking on a fetus.

I can't see Celine Dion without thinking of Ana Gasteyer's impression of her on SNL. It was brutal in how dead-on it was.

Yeah, but I bet they are poor shitty musicians. It's all part of his plot to flood the world with shitty music.

I'll meet the two of you out back. Unfortunately, I was introduced to them through that horrible, horrible (holy crap it sucks) lighthouse song.

Everything else they do is awesome.

Another pile on for the Nickelback can go suck shotgun bandwagon, too.

A friendship of mine fell apart right around the release of their last album. He was a huge fan of theirs and I like to think God broke us up so I wouldn't have to listen to that shit while driving in his car.

It's cool, Miasta. I feel the same way.

::Hugs Miasta, while simultaneously giving Jake the signal. Jake coldcocks Miasta, and we carry his unconscious body to the van, where DaveB is sitting behind the wheel. We drive all night to get Miasta to the safehouse for deprogramming.

"Do you think we're too late, Dave?"

"I don't know, Misfit. I just don't know."

We listen to the best of Gordon Lightfoot as we drive on through the night::

"Do you guys want to hear some rock 'n' roll, or do you want to go home?" - Chad

Is this a trick question of some sort?

Exactly. The people of Alberta are not subtle in our revenge.

Forgot about that song. But yeah, pretty much every thing else is amazing.

I find Gordon Lightfoot and Leonard Cohen counteract just about any overexposure to bad Canadian bands. Arcade Fire has been known to help in minor cases.

Love Nickel Creek. Why Must the Fire Die is a great album, I still crank Helena as often as I can. The sad thing is, we're talking about Nickel Creek in this godforsaken thread.
