I'll be scarce for a while

Thread Starter
As some of you learned in the election forum, my wife and I were among the financial disasters this country has been having so much lately, and had been declaring bankruptcy to avoid foreclosure and blah blah. Anyway, my Internet connection is the latest casualty, so I'm only able to get here when I bring my laptop to work and use my lunch break to access the Internet. So I'll be around less for a while.

On the plus side, we do have a buyer for the condo now, and if all goes well, we'll be in a new place in a couple of months, with our equity free at last. I hope to be back to having passionate arguments about nothing important with all of you soon.

At this point, not having Internet access feels like being stranded on an island. When you've spent years taking it for granted, going without is painful. I hate it.

Consider it practice for the inevitable collapse of civilization.

In the meantime, good luck.
Good luck man. I'm close to that boat, I've been doing odd jobs for the last few months since I got cut from a big client. I'm in the construction industry and shit is looking bleak.

Sorry about your troubles, Greg. If you can swing it, I'd advise investing in some old-fashioned, hardcopy pornography during your off-time. Your first inclination when you get reconnected is going to be to gorge on porn, and that would be dangerous, like giving chocolate bars to concentration camp survivors. I don't want you to hurt yourself and delay your return any further.

You watch yourself cowboy.

Man, I hadn't even thought about the porn yet. I don't think watching it at work on my lunch break would be advisable, either.
Gonna miss you. Best of luck. Come back soon.
Good ol' Schwartz, always keepin' an eye on the porn.

Best of luck, sincerely.

Live long and prosper. Emphasis on the prosper. You're going to be missed around here, man.
When Greg gets his internet back...

Good luck, man. Hopefully you won't be cut off from the world for too long.
Shadows, when that day comes. We will all rejoice when Greg says it was a spooky ghost. I'll raise a glass that day.
Greg, you are a fine fellow.
Hope every thing goes ok for you Greg, and that you'll be back on here soon.
Good luck Greg. See you on your lunch breaks...
Greg David, I hope you will endure, and return to the CHUD Boards, when you are able to sell your condo and regain your connection to the net...You will be missed.
You and your wife should make a porno, Greg. Not sure about you, but we all know your wife's got the goods.
Im missing you already Greg - hope things turn up for you and stabalise mate.
Good luck to you too. Greg. Best wishes.
Good luck, Greg. Hope you manage to sort things out soon.
Good luck. Come back even under a different user name like fab did.
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles Greg. I hope you get back on your feet soon. If I was religious and thought it would help I'd pray for ya but since I'm not I'll just wish you the best!
I, however, will sacrifice a hitchhiker to Cthulhu so that His Mighty Squamousness will end your tribulations soonish.
Here's another wish of good luck to add to your pile sir! Keep your left up and you'll be back soon enough!
Good luck, Greg. You're one of the good guys around here.
Your views, while not always agreeable with, were one of the most valued around here. I really hope you can turn things around and be comfortable financially, specially with your family. Chud is secondary. But it will miss you.
Best of luck to you sir, we'll be anxiously awaiting your return.

Yep. Without you, there'll be one less reasonable person to tell me when I'm being dumb. Good luck at home and in the office; we hope to see you back to full strength soon.
Sorry to hear the news. Get yourself square and hurry back.
Keep us posted. Come up with some good shit for the lunch hours.

This may change. I've found that whenever I've been deprived of the internet for several days, life takes on a new perspective. Flowers smell nicer, the sky is bluer, that girl's smile is prettier. Then, when you log back onto the internet, it's all "SPIKE LEE'S KATRINA FILM DELAYED!", and you're all "Pfft, I came back for this?" and then you log on to your favoured porn site and everything as back to square 1 again.

Don't worry about the money. There are plenty of bashful - yet noble - Nigerian princes around to help you!
Jesus Christ, I wish Obama take McCartney's internet wealth away and spread it to Greg.
That sucks, will look forward to when you DO get to come in here and send well wishes for the day you return for good.

Um, after your wrist heals and you've washed your hands of course.
Hope things pick up for you and the Mrs. soon, Greg! Hurry back!
Hope everything turns around quick for you Greg. Started to feel the pinch finally myself, and it's a scary road.
Hope everything works out good Sir. We shall keep a metaphorical empty glass handy ready to be filled upon your return.
Good luck sir.
Best of luck, come back soon.

With Greg gone, the title for Most Condescending Poster is back up for grabs. Who shall it be? Dre? Spike? Dickson? Devin? Man, this is super exciting, I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Greg wasn't even in the top 5.
Godspeed, good sir. Hope everything works out.
Noooooo! Fuck, we're losing one of our coolest and smartest guys on the Bond Thread* (and the rest of CHUD, yeah, well). OK then, good luck on life as the others say, but forget the adieu as we'll all see you around at lunchtime.

Right? RIGHT?!

* However, a DAD-hater less on the list. Hmmm... 6000 Million to go... hmmm...

I guess I should point out that I still like and respect Greg a whole lot, he's a smart and funny guy, it's just I've always noticed that when he disagrees with someone he's always quick to dismiss them and call them retarded. Maybe I'm out of line, but just something that's always irked me.
Eh, ain't we all pretty condescending here? Some are more passive-aggressive about it but generally everyone here thinks they're the smartest guy in the room. If you put us all in different rooms, we might be.

I forget what we were talking about.

Yeah, the contest for that title isn't nearly as competitive, right Ripoll?
I don't know what you're implying, and I won't respond to it. I'm better than that.
I think I could take Dickson, Dre and Devin are well above my weight division.

Man I'm sorry to see Greg go, he's probably the guy whose opinion I respected here the most.
I just feel bad for Spike. Without Greg around the full responsibility for harrassing Gruber and McCartney now rests on his shoulders.
I'm willing to step up in his place, McCartney's schtick has gotten really goddamn tired. And I like to think I'm a pretty tolerant guy.

Edit: I meant to say, I'm willing to step up in his place, McCartney's schtick has gotten really goddamn tired. And I like to think I'm a pretty tolerant guy!

See, exclamation points make anything funnier!
