So this guy is either having a terrific meltdown or just really wants to get banned so he can become all self-righteous and shit.

He's pissed about those 3AM phone calls from (this would be funnier if I could remember the poster's name) asking about the Indy 4 poster and blames you?

What a man does with his butter is his business. In looking at Drew S's posts, I don't know if he's melting down or trying to get banned, but he does seem to have a pronounced disdain for Mr. Faraci. Even Devin has to admit though, his board presence can be pretty polarizing. And for some reason, his articles seem to bring the trolliest of the trolls to the talkbacks.

There's been a lot of people that hurl personal attacks at staff on here though. I'm not saying that makes it in any way right, but what about this guy is really pushing buttons?

I think he's just in that "Devin is the bane of my existence" phase. I think all chewers go through it at least once before they realize that Devin is just another dude with an opinion. A hairy, cell phone clip hating dude, with LOTS of opinions.......on everything.

All bullshit aside I still think Devin's a hell of a writer at times and I am marginally jealous of some of the cool shit he gets to do for his job. The best part of my work day is taking a baby away from a meth-head, and trust me, it ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Chris, it's not about button pushing or polarization, because there is disagreeing with someone and then there is insulting them.

If I were to call you a fat cunt in every thread, you'd probably say "WTF crawled up that guy's ass?" Not "Hmm, maybe I'm polarizing and this person is disagreeing with me."

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say. How many people rail at Russ or Alex or Oliver? I know Nick takes flak, not nearly as much as Devin, but he does take it. I guess I just don't understand the timing, I've see people with far fewer posts on this board say far worse things to Devin in a very public forum, only to be smashed back twice as hard. This guys says "Butter tits" and now it gets personal?

I guess I've just never seen devilf care before. It's.....touching?

Honestly, and this sounds like such a backwards compliment, but I think the reason people get bent out of shape is because they overall respect his writing. If Ebert had a board attached to the sun -times that he was very active on, but fairly mean-spirited, it would probably garner the same reaction. On the flip side, lot's of other people can get away with being dicks on a message board, because, hell, who are they?

Plus, Drew S lives in Louisiana. If I lived there, I'd be irritable too. Lot's of drunk frat boys, very muggy, hurricanes. Voodoo.

I think the personal attacks on Devin are uncalled for. Some of the stuff I see crosses the line (and is really, really unfunny) and I don't think it comes from a place of good natured ribbing but hatred. I don't agree with everything Devin writes nor do I think he always handles himself with tact in responding to people on the message boards but I don't think he deserves some of the bile I read thrown his way.

I've never understood why so many people want fleed banned. Just don't get the animosity. I can certainly understand disagreeing with him on many, many things, but banishment? fleed seems way too mellow, and regardless of one's opinion of his opinion, he knows his stuff as far as I can tell, unless he's gone apeshit and gotten abusive and trollish in some threads I simply don't follow.
