On a side note: I hate this song.

I chose the reindeer. Holiday spirit and all...

Reggie, Is that glisten?

That's the sparkle filter in GIMP. Applied to barbecue sauce.

So I hadn't heard this song when I first saw this thread (side note, thread title had me thinking, is this a new Bjork song?) and heard it on the way home last night. Production wise, reminds me of Madonna's Ray of Light album.

The real question remains:

"Are we human or are we cancer?"

Me? I'm the first genetically engineered human/dancer hybrid.

...also, I have cyborg parts.

Hahahahaaa...

If I didn't listen to the radio fairly often, I wouldn't have known it was a song either.

Eh, I kind of really like the new album. But then again, I've liked their last two as well, so no real surprise I suppose.

s'an okay track. I prefer "Spaceman" by a mile.

WTF does this song even mean?
The album is way better than the 2nd one. It's not great, but it's cute and fun, and so much 80's I could smell the hairspray through my headphones.

As did I, but the referenced song has definitely earned itself a top spot in my WTF?!? List of the Year.

It's a Hunter S Thompson quote.

And the album is pretty great.
It's much better than Sam's Town but not as great as Hot Fuss. I think it's kine of uneven, but the good tracks are very good. "Dustland Fairytale" is a highlight.

Not a quote, but a reference to something he wrote or said - according to internet.

Looked that song up on YouTube. I guess lyrically it's tolerable. Musically it sounds like the closing credits to some anime about an effeminate guy who gets cat ears on odd numbered days or some shit. So, to sum up...

...is all I have to say here. Not to dis but this clearly isn't my thing.

That song kind of reminds me of this song:

That video reminds me that I have to get my eagle feather-encrusted sport coat dry cleaned. And fly cleaned.

Amazon has the MP3 of the album available for only $3.99.

Besides Brandon Flowers vocals, what exactly does the rest of the band DO on this track? - because at first I thought Flowers was going solo when I heard this.

What kind of a band steps back and lets their singer perform with a DJ and yet still call this a "Killers Song" and keep a straight face?

Bah, I guess Im just old fashioned.

...and the song doesn't do much for me personally. It smacks of sell-out (again, I know you kids barely even know what that concept means anymore - Im old cranky and proud of it)

The Killers are going to release a covers album later this year featuring a remake of "One Night in Bangkok". It will also have covers from Bright Eyes(?) and Cyndi Lauper, among others.

I posted about this in another thread, but the Bright Eyes cover of Four Winds is not terrible. Flowers' voice works for the song. It reminds me of those 12-inch remixes Springsteen would do in the 80s, throwing in everything but the kitchen sink for Spector-ian Wall of Sound type feel...then take everything out, and release that on the album. It's kind of like that.
