Johnny Walker Black: $25 a bottle

My personal favorite is the Green at $40 a bottle. I think it's better than the Blue.

Well, my Cousin just won a nice amount of money playing the lottery, so it doesn't really surprise me it's $170 bucks a bottle.

But damn...in a few hours I won't even know what's happening anymore. That's ussually when the drunken Irish fighting starts.

This is my first time cooking a turkey by myself. I'm praying this fucker turns out edible. I'll know in about 2 hours...it's in God's hands now.

I have to get up early tomorrow for a drive to see family in Vermont, so I can't be too hungover. We'll see how that goes.

The meal today will be just me and a few close friends. My mom and younger siblings, who I would typically spend it with, are eating with other relatives I'm not on speaking terms with. So, it's up to us misfits to band together.

Had myself some great turkey, cranberries, mashed potatoes, and corn. Yeah, it's great having Thanksgiving at my parent's house.

The best thing about my parents...they drink like fishes. Been here four hours and we're already though a ton of Leinenkugels (sp), a bottle of Cab and 1/2 a bottle of Pinot.

I'm beyond stuffed.

Here's the 17 lb turkey:

We had the usual stuff to go with it. I didn't have time to make that sausage/oyster stuffing, unfortunately.

And here are the 2 homemade pies:


We also managed to polish off a bottle of Johnny Walker Green, half a bottle of Red Breast 12, and 2 bottles of wine.

It's time to enter coma mode...

I hope that you all had a great meal tonight. I certainly did.

Black Friday is the BEST. I just got home from shopping, and this little video store that no one in town really frequents due to Best Buy being right down the street had a massive DVD sale going on. Their used DVDs were $1.99 a pop, so I snagged a ton of shit. Their 3-disc WALL-E DVD, brand-new, was $13 dollars! Add my military discount on top of that (Dad served, I'm a dependent), and I brought home almost 50 DVDs for under $50 dollars!

Basically, my family is spread all over the country, and the members that live in my town don't talk to each other much anymore. So I went to my mothers had a very small little dinner. Very good, but no pie. Guess I should have brought one.

I'm off to track down a cheap Blu-ray player in a bit. It's legal to knock down little old ladies on "Black Friday" right?

hey, Tati. When I was stationed in Italy, I lived on the economy and not in base housing, so all of my neighbors were natives. The first Thanksgiving I spent over there was a lot of cooking interspersed with 4-5 knocks on my door by inquisitive neighbors wanting to know what smelled so good. I spent Thanksgiving in Sao Paulo, BZ, on an airline trip. The other two pilots and I went to a Brazilian steak house, which is kind of like a pure meat dim sum.

Waiters come by your table with skewers of hot roasted cuts of beef, pork, lamb, or chicken, as well as hunks of fish, sausages, and various other high cholesterol delights. At your command, they slice off a little of the meat, then move on to the next table.

Combine that with some tortellini, a seaweed and spinach salad, and a bottle of Argentine malbec, and you've got yourself one hell of a meal.

And then we went booming in downtown SP.

So, yeah, I'd rather have been eating dry turkey with my family. But if you've gotta be away, this isn't a bad way to go.

I think there is one of those restaurants in downtown Minneapolis, or used to be, the restaurant scene is always changing in the Twin Cities.

Although I usually eat vegetarian, I'll eat meat a few times a year. So this year it was just me and my dad-Turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and a nice glass of white wine. My father cooked the turkey in some type of bag and he said it really reduces the cooking time.

Unfortunately, after the meal we watched a movie-The Love Guru. Seriously, this is the best that Mike Meyers can do? I'm no prude, but I'm pretty tired of fart jokes in movies. Really "comedians", try harder please!

Brazilian steakhouses are in most major cities in the US, and if you've never been, GO. Dunno how they compare to the real deal, but they do the trick just fine in Philly.

They turned out PERFECT, and I still have a little over half of each.

Also, I may have eaten my weight in Hawaiian rolls and drank a whole lot of Amstel Light. I petition that we have this holiday twice a year.

Those looke awesome, Jake. I'm envious that you have some left...there isn't a crumb left of either of the two that we had.

Tati: It should also be mentioned that the best part of Thanksgiving is the inevitable turkey sandwich utilizing all of the leftovers. If you've saved enough, you'll be able to pile turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce (with mayo) onto a killer sandwich.

I'm pretty sure that photo is NSFW. Especially when you factor in the notion of "sausage/oyster stuffing." Either way, it's making my stomach grumble and my naughty parts tingle.
