From John Rogers, who used to post on the boards, and Dean Devlin.

The official site.

Check out the behind the scenes vids for some cool stuff.

Quote:
The series follows a team of thieves, hackers and grifters who act as modern-day Robin Hoods, taking revenge against those who use power and wealth to victimize others.

In LEVERAGE, Hutton plays former insurance investigator Nate Ford, a once-loyal corporate employee who had recovered millions of dollars in stolen goods for his employer. But when that employer denied his son’s insurance claims and allowed the boy to die, he realized he could no longer work for such an entity.

Out of work and descending into alcoholism, Ford is hired by an aeronautics executive to recover airplane designs the executive claims were stolen by a rival company. Helping him are four highly skilled team members: Parker (Beth Riesgraf – Alvin and the Chipmunks), an expert thief; Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge – Friday Night Lights), a specialist in Internet and computer fraud; Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane – Into the West), a high-octane “retrieval specialist” who can take out a gang of henchmen without breaking a sweat; and Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman – Coupling), a grifter who could win awards for her acting skills during difficult scams. At first the newly formed team is hesitant to trust each other after so many years working alone but being double-crossed changes the dynamic, ultimately forcing them to unite. They emerge from the job realizing they are far better working together than apart. Once they discover they can trust each other the group targets their cons toward the richest, the greediest and the most unjust.
Premieres next Sunday at 9c/10e on TNT.

This show is damn fun. I checked out the pilot a month or so ago and really dug it. It's not perfect, but it's very enjoyable, much in the same way Psych or Burn Notice is. Not too serious, fun/funny shit happens, you walk away enjoyed. I recommend it.

John Rogers is good people, but I don't know what this show has to offer that isn't already covered by Burn Notice and Hustle.

Then again, Timothy Hutton has shown good taste in TV projects (Nero Wolfe and Kidnapped), so I think I'll give it a shot.

It's more of a Hustle mixed with one of the Ocean's flicks. It has the same sense of fun mixed with serious that Burn Notice has, although that's about all they have in common.

This and Burn Notice are to me modern versions of old ITV shows and their American counterparts such as I Spy and It Takes A Thief. Fun shows with some cool plots with some seriousness thrown in every now and then.

Having watched the pilot, I stand by the ITV statement for this and Burn Notice. All either show needs is a snappy theme song.

Seeing Hutton in the suit with the slicked back hair made me remember how much I liked him in Nero Wolfe (a fluff show, but good).

So if anyone knows how to make "retirement cash" on a company's stock tanking, let me know.

Was he the casting guy in her commercial audition?

Really good follow-up, except for almost shattering my eye sockets from the eyeballs making with roll in the last scene with, "No, thank you," and Hutton telling the doctor to change the world. Uggggh. The scene with Hutton and Black Guy watching the monitors with beer and popcorn was quite enjoyable. Yeah, like Psych and Chuck, it's lite TV, but I have no problems with that.

Watched the pilot last night, and laughed heartily. Not a compliment. When the camera closed in on Timothy Hutton as he said, "We're just here to provide a little....LEVERAGE," I howled and changed the channel.

There's a fine line between "lite" TV and "empty" TV, and I think a lot of it has to do with the cast. The elements are there, but aside from Hutton, none of the actors leave an impression.

Like Burn Notice, as light as this show plays with it, there seems to be a mean streak/dark current running through the show.

I liked the third episode, but I had no idea what the hell was going on. This may be because I watched at 3 am. But it was a problem with the first couple episodes and I saw it as a problem last night -- the schemes are unnecessarily complicated.

I remember seeing the ads for this show (TNT pimps their shows like a mofo) during the last season of The Closer earlier in the fall, but since I don't actively watch TNT when that show is not on, I forgot about this. I managed to scrounge up the first 4 episodes online and am just now getting into them.

It definitely reminds me of the British show Hustle that aired for a handful of seasons on AMC a few years ago mixed with Mission: Impossible.

And I am really enjoying the coy cuteness of Beth Riesgraf (who I learned, thanks to IMDb, is the mother of Jason Lee's son, Pilot Inspektor).

Such a weird episode to start with. Oh, and did anyone else notice the BMW that "morphed" into a Chrysler 300 in the scene with the black van and hacking that guys car?

Haven't watched the other two episodes but will now that others are digging the series.

I watched a few episodes On Demand. Its kinda like the A-team meets it takes a thief...con man, quirky one, computer pro, muscle guy, fearless leader..etc. I guess the bar has been lowered over the years.

Really, if you ever want to write or work in TV, Rogers is doing a lot of follow up on the show.
