EdHocken is apparently not up-to-date on his soaps.

Now I need to get back to ma stohrees.
Seriously, though. How do you justify firing Marlena? John Black, I understand. But Marls?
Fuck John & Marlena - Luke and Laura is where it's at.
Old news but at least they get to reunite before exiting. Opps. Spoiler. Or is it?

Over-paid. Both of them. Supposedly.

I do a killer John Black impression.

I gave up on soaps after Rick Springfield left.

All the cool kids have TVs in their offices.

You're not too far removed from college (it seems as though most guys get hooked at this point in their lives, myself included).
I never watched soaps in College. Mainly because I never found that shit interesting and the tv never worked. I mean unless you're eyefucking the actors. I don't see the point.

I used to watch it frequently back during the John/Marlena/Kristen & Carrie/Austin/Sami days. It was ridiculous, but it was fun. Now it's just tedious.

The woman who plays Hope on the show looks like death lately.
I'll make a point to stare off in the distance and mutter "Doc!" in Drake Hogestyn's honor.

Jesus Christ, we weren't all kidding?!

That's back when I watched it - and Sami got pregnant with a turkey baster? Am I remembering that correctly? Broke Carrie and Austin up. Didn't Sammi and Lukas end up together at some point? Or am I remembering that wrong?

At any rate - once I switched to ABC there was no looking back. AMC and General Hospital were FAR superior to Days.

There were those who slept between classes and those who watched soaps (I mean what else is on during the daytime). Over the years, my watching has certainly gone waaaaay down.
Isn't 'Love Connection' still on??? Fuck, that's what we used to watch in between classes. Having Chuck Woolery do everything but ask 'so...did you fuck her?' was great fun.

Want to blow your mind? Try to make any goddamn sense out of this.

I too have watched the occasional soap opera while ill. Hell, when one's just a little too exhausted or dizzy to get up and put in a movie they can be good for some kind of entertainment value be it so bad it's good or if you're really sick enough actual fascination.

I remember tuning through them one day, settling on one where within five minutes characters were being restrained by demons in Hell. I never saw a title card so I don't know which one, but it was good for more than a few laughs.

They make us read 2000 words to get to that, though.

Passions. Had to be.

Either that, or As the World Turns during sweeps.

I know more about Drake Hogestyn than any boy should. From growing up in a house full of girls. My mom went to see him at the mall. Not an ideal childhood. Respect to those of you who do the John Black impression- I thought I was the only one out there. The overacting leaves an impression.

My mother is ready to kill herself over this. I remember when John was Roman. I remember when he was a priest. I remember when Marlena was possessed by the devil and John exorcised her. I am male. I am ashamed.

I couldn't say anything about your mother but I love your Al Bundy avatar Dross.

The summer of the possession was the summer that about 30 of us would meet in the student center every day to watch Days. Man, that was a good way to meet girls.

Oh hell yes. Back in college we would watch Sportscenter until around noon (yes, the same repeat over and over and over...) and then switch to a soap or two. My roommate was coincidentally named Jon Black so he had a special affinity for Days. This was during the great Marlena Possession year. Ah, memories. Never really cared for John Black on the show though. I was always a Stefano fan as I like the evil, crazy bastard. Especially one who torments and molests both his lovers and his kids.

Now anyone who watched Passions, that was some fucked up shit. Mostly because I HATE creepy little dolls/cherubs/dummies/etc. And that midget would seriously freak me out.

I don't remember a turkey baster. I just remember Sami drugging Austin's beer and having sex with him while he thought she was Carrie.

Sami and Lucas did eventually end up having a relationship, yes.

They might be better written and acted, but I don't know if any soap was as entertaining as Days was at its peak.
