Uncharted 2 - Page 11

Well the new 1.05 patch is interesting. I know lots of people complained that it took practically a full clip to kill someone, but I liked that. It made the game more cover based and less run and gun. The new patch ups the weapon damage for most rifles and pistols and lowers shotgun and pistole damange. Snipers are now one shot kills.

Well it definately changes the feel of the game. A little more run and gun. You can still find and good cover spot and get some shots off but you need be on the move constantly. I don't dislike it, it still feels like UC2 mp that I like.

The aussie psn store won't let you buy the new maps without buying the new skins as well. Bullshit. How come the american store has this option and we don't? Bah.

How are you finding the MP jmub? I liked the beta, but the after the retail game was released, it felt super laggy. I was made keen on on Killzone 2 MP, and was ready to move onto this, but that initial impression turned me off.

I probably should give it another go.

Kriegaffe, I'm on level 40 with my MP account in UC2, so I'd say I like it quite a bit. It's not laggy and naughty dog have spent time refining the game. Lots of players on most of the time. Takes between 30 seconds to 4 minutes to find a match for most game modes. Give the game about ten matches or so, you will be playing against a bunch of seasoned players who been at it since the release date, but after a bit the combat and maps should just click. Been meaning to check out Killzone 2 multiplayer again too, but since I got MAG, my fps MP needs have been met.

Finally beat this.

I'm trying to find things to undercut or temper the reaction with, but, since I'm not finding them, I'll run with it.

It's a perfect game. Possibly the most satisfying experience I've had playing an action game since, maybe, Super Mario World.

Good Lord.

Super Mario World?

Other than that, agreed.

I had a couple after my 1st play through, but after several replays, I only have one:

A less than adequate amount of Sully.

The first game was much better in that regard.

Well, there's what happens to Jeff the Cameraman I suppose.

He had it coming. And he wasn't in the game very long, so you never got to really know him, but I have the sneeking suspicion he was a big douche. So screw 'em.

If we are in the realm of 'Best action game of all time' I have a few nitpicks.
- I don't think it's that replayable. I went through on Normal difficulty and other than messing around with infinite grenades, I haven't been compelled to play through again.
- I remember the battles at the end the battles become a bit numbing. In fact, I was pretty glad when the yeti-brutes turn up since it changes the dynamic.
- The first 2 or so levels a very tutorial heavy. It's not till Borneo that things properly begin.
- I found the treasure hunting annoying. I tried going few the first few levels to spot them, but always missed a few. It's begging for me to use game-faqs, but that defeats the point.
- The story, while polished till perfection and full of charisma, is pretty generic.

Don't get me wrong, my jaw dropped multiple times in this game. However to be honest, I was playing Brutal Legend more at the time (yeah, I'll defend that game flaws and all).

I suppose it is one of the best games from this generation. Super Mario Galaxy would give it a run for it's money. Prior to that, I'd probably take Res Evil 4 over U2.

While I don't think this one is quite as easily replayable as the first (simply due to it being a longer game) I've been itching to go back and play it again once I get my stack of other in-progress/pending games finished.

As for the action, they do a good job of increasing the difficulty of not only the enemies but the stages themselves as you progress.

The best part of the game is that there really are different approaches to each area of the game, you can run around stealth killing guys or you can go in guns blazing and shoot up the place. Both methods are rewarding in their own way.

For me, the actual most frustrating thing about he game at least on the difficulty I played on was that the enemies were almost always able to 1-hop grenades exactly onto the top of the piece of cover I'm hiding behind, forcing me to dive/roll away before it explodes. Even the lowliest of enemies has this amazingly accurate grenade tossing power and it just gets a bit old.

The treasure hunting is just an extra thing for people obsessed with finding stuff to occupy themselves with. As it was, I just kept my eye out and collected them where I saw them but didn't really worry about it too much.

For me, one of the most fun things about the game was the co-op scenarios. Just getting to play through sections with my friends (even when we died constantly) was a lot of fun. The fact that they put a little bit of story and some unique animations/dialog made it even better.

Well ... preferring Resident Evil 4 (perhaps no. 2 on my greatest games of all time list, right behind Half Life 2) isn't really damning, is it?

I found the game to be extraordinarily replayable on the easiest setting. First time that's ever happened. If you remove the macho factor from playing it, it actually flows better and becomes a bit more exciting. The numbing battles and enemy swarms lose their "not again" factor.

I 100% agree about the treasures. I hated them in the first game, and I hated them here. They remind of me of the stupid Riddler crap in Batman Arkham Asylum. Too video game-y, breaks the immersion. I wish there was an option to turn them off.

I'm still puzzled how the treasures are such the distraction when you could go pretty much the whole game without ever picking one up.

And the Arkham Asylum example is equally wrong, since, a scavenger hunt it may have been, but it was extremely well-implemented into the layout of the game.

The idea of what seemed like thousands of riddler question marks scattered everywhere broke the wall, IMHO. The actual riddles were cool: it's the question mark scavenger hunt that I found irritating. Nothing quite like dramatically making your way to a position to spring your trap, only to sneak past a huge green symbol.

And every time I saw a treasure in Uncharted 2, it was just a random item stuck in some strange place. Not a puzzle to solve, nothing organic to the game, just a "nother one to check off" moment.

Agreed. The riddles and even the question marks you had to line up just right in detective mode actually made you think a little bit, but the random Riddler trophies were pretty lame. They should have just made the riddles worth more points & eliminated the question marks hidden behind random ventilation grates...

I forgot about those detective move question mark line-ups: those were also cool. Good point.

I know that he died with a crazy lady screaming in his face that he should be left behind.

How dare you, sir. Have you no heart?

Mass Effect 2 is guilty of this too. You clear a room and then run around like an asshole looking for ammo and loot. I groaned as soon as I found out weapons had ammo instead of overheating.

Just got this back from a friend after loaning it out for a month or so. The multiplayer is just so fun. It's not as lightning fast as something like COD, which means I actually have a chance to kill some people. The two new maps are pretty good as well, so long as it's a 5 on 5 match since they're pretty big...

I feel the same way; love this game and with the new maps coming next week (i believe), it stays pretty fresh....

Recently played and beat Uncharted 1 and 2 in the past couple of weeks. Fun games. I thought for sure Nathan Fillion did the voice of Drake while playing the first game.

Fending off the creatures from The Descent in the middle of the night is not a pleasant experience. I mean that as a compliment.
Finally got around to playing it again, since I had a ton of new games interfere with my play rotation on it (I think I initially put it down for Batman) . Ending was good, and I will miss Chloe's ass too. I tried the MP when it first came out and was kinda underwhelmed. and I got my ass kicked a lot. I may have to return to it.

There's a grenades only mode up this weekend. Completely ridiculous, but definitely fun for a few rounds....
Weirdly enough I convinced four of my buddies to all buy PS3's(I should get commission) and we're having a blast with Borderlands together right now, but Uncharted multiplayer is surprisingly fun. I just kind of assumed it was going to be half assed, but it really turned out great.
Why would you ASS U ME that?

This is Naughty Dog, they don't half ass anything.
If any of you are still playing this, for today only you get:

5x Cash
A free Anniversary skin

And some of the Naughty Dog folks are playing today. Hint: they are tough.

Details.

Need to play this more often. It's still bags of fun a year later. Pretty crazy seeing myself level up 3 times post-match.

I haven't played this in forever. Now that I finally finished Halo Reach on Legendary though maybe I'll play this up to try to get some cash.

Plunder Pistols is insane. If you win, that's a straight $100,000 even if you don't personally kill anybody.
Hadn't played MP in a while, but jumped on a lot this weekend. Still so much fun.
I beat this beauty of a game last night after several hours of greatness. I believe I played through about the last 60% over the past two nights. So many cool moments (that have mostly all been mentioned here).

I'm new to the PS3 game, hence my lateness, but playing through this and the first game were my priorities, and they didn't disappoint.

Also tried my first round of MP in the wee hours of this morning (with a group that seemed to be speaking only Spanish), and had some fun. There's a 4x Cash period going through the start of the year, if anyone wants to get some extra CHA-CHING while they wait for Santa.

Who in this thread is still playing the MP occasionally?

Should I spring for the extra maps, etc? They were on sale (half off) a few days ago-- lemme go see if that's still the case.

I still play the multiplayer quite a bit. Just can't quit playing the game, and the multiplayer is still a challenge considering the amount of time I put into it. Can't recommend the new maps enough, especially as it seems most of the playing time goes on in them nowadays. I think there may be two sets of DLC maps, though. I think 'The Facility & Flooded Ruins' were maps made from the first game's levels, while 'The Museum & The High Rise' were made from the second game's levels. Both have some really great level design though...

I bought the SIEGE mode DLC earlier tonight, but I haven't messed with it yet. I just got in my first round of Plunder Pistols. We lost. Badly. Still, a pretty neat game.

What's your PSN handle, WayDen?

Plunder can get pretty intense. My team lost a game 4-5 when the other team scored with less than 10 seconds left, and it was tied for almost the last 8 minutes of the game.

Name on PSN is WayDen2079. Actually getting on now to play a couple rounds before hitting the bed. Don't have a bluetooth mic, though...
