Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao

Not sure how many of you out there are boxing fans. For me, my interest in boxing has diminished multi-fold over the past several years; I rarely get exciting for a fight anymore. But I must say, Saturday night's fight (12-6-08) of De la Hoya v. Pacquiao has me very excited. I've never been a De la Hoya fan so I would love to see Pacquiao take him out.

Anyone else going to check out this fight?

Will not pay but will watch replay. My pick, Manny in 7. I sure hope it does not turn into a dance fest which the past Oscar fights have been. Manny is too good of a fighter for him.

My wife grew up in the Philippines where Manny is nothing less than a national hero. We've paid to watch every single one of his fights going back as far as I can remember. He's simply the most exciting fighter in the sport right now.

I'm pretty excited for this matchup and I hope Pacquiao kicks the shit out of the Golden Boy. Maybe he'll finally retire for good after this.

Love Pacquiao, hate this circus fight.

I'll probably check this out, but the fact that two weights classes have separated these fighters makes the fight itself a joke. Normally I'd pick Pacquiao over just about anyone, but I don't know how he's going to overcome the size and reach disadvantage with speed alone.

Apparently regardless of the outcome of the Pacquiao fight De la Hoya is trying to set up a match with Ricky Hatton next year, either at Wembley or the Millennium Stadium.

What a great fight!!! Well worth the price. This was essentially the end of the De la Hoya era. Normally I can't stand the HBO guys (Emmanuel Stewart is ok) but LAmpley and Merchant were actually tolerable tonight. Merchant actually made sense and Lampley wasn't a complete cheerleader for De la Hoya.

Pacquiao looked extraordinary against oscar. Totally outclassed him in every facet of the match. Would love to see Pacquiao go up against floyd mayweather.

The De la Hoya era has been dead since the turn of the century.

Oh yeah. I imagine there was quite a bit of celebrating over in Eagle Rock.

Gotta disagree. De La Hoya v. Vargas was a fantastic fight. I don't think Oscar is nearly what he once was, but he's rarely been a chump.

I think he should have stuck with his promoting and not had his past three fights.

Of course, that is obvious man stating the obvious.
