Waxwork (1988)

I finally got to see this one. Not exactly good, but it's actually quite a bit of fun. The concept of people being killed by the ghosts inside the various wax settings is actually kind of cool, and I don't think I'd be against a remake if the right people came on board. I'm not sure producers of a remake would be able to find a more beautiful girl than Michelle Johnson, though.

Something way too distracting in this movie: Zach Galligan and Bret Ratner looked too much alike.

I like WAXWORK 2 which had the Aliens, Nosferatu and Dawn of the Dead spoofs.
Having Patrick McNee and David Carradine helps as well.

I saw the second one first. I thought it was pretty good, but the second one is pretty good too.

Love Waxwork. I worked at a video store when this first came out, and I would take it home with me all the time.

Also, is it me, or do they actually kill 14 people instead of 13 as is alluded to in the flick? I swear I think it's more than 13. I'll have to pull out the ol' DVD and count again.

The 2nd one wasn't terrible, although I did like some of the skits like the House on Haunted Hill/Haunting references. The part with Bruce Campbell is awesome.

The first movie I ever rented!

I still have a lot of love for Waxwork. I think it loses a lot when not in "the displays" but it's a throwback picture to the horror B's of the 50's that works for me anyway.

The second one....aside from a few nice homages I can't say that I really dug it.

I liked this one more than most folks, as well. If the filmmakers feel like they're at least having a good time with it, I tend to enjoy the film even more than it may warrant.

When I have a friend or two over and we watch a particularly weighty picture, I sometimes like to follow it up with something like WAXWORK(1 or more likely 2). It's a fun chaser.

The scene in the first film where the we see the aftermath of the vampire family gnawing that guy's leg all the way to the bone was creepy. That bone was as clean as possible.
