Obligatory BATMAN 3 Story - Page 2

Batman is the worlds greatest detective, lets see a story focus more on the "art of detection" part.Take it back to basics and on a smaller scale. It would never happen but that's the direction i'd like to see it go.

Also make Gotham City P.D. and its workforce more prominent, theres some good stories that they could mine from the Gotham Central books.

The repercussions from The Dark Knight is that the GCPD won't be playing ball anymore with Batman and will target him along with any of the villains. The Bruce Wayne persona is still intact.

^ Funny.

The Penguin could work, but only as a side character. A "legitimate business man" with below-board operations wearing a tux, that is only referred to as The Penguin out of mockery. The comics of the last decade have actually done a good job with him. But he's not main villain calliber. Sadly, after Ledger's Joker, no one is.

I just read that article. I'd kill for a Litmus Configuration mock-up of Shia LaBoeuf Robin, for the sweet sweet laughter. A Rachel Weiz Catwoman may give me a slow-roasted boner, however.

Theres no pissing about with the "Sun".They tell it how it is!

Breaking news!!Murphy signed! LeBeouf signed!...claims 13 yr old prank caller!

Now turn to pg.3 to see lovely 18yr old Katie showing off her best assets, yes we mean her tits!

That paper is bloody ridiculous.

Any publication that names itself after a flaming ball of lava and superheated gases has to be full of shit 24/7.

I like that they went the extra mile with that retarded photoshop Eddie Murphy Riddler. Some staff member had to sit down and work on that. Committed to crap.

Batman is daisy-chaining him - you can see him back there.

Shia should totally be robin and Megan Fox should be Catwoman and the batmobile should be Optimus Prime.

Regarding the Sun article, I actually saw this on Fox News this morning while I was eating breakfast in a hotel. They reported it was confirmed that Eddie Murphy was going to be playing The Riddler in the third Batman movie, titled, "Gotham" and that Murphy's casting came as a surprise since Johnny Depp had been rumored for the part.

It sounded like crap, but I was actually unsure until I got online and saw the Robin and Catwoman news.

How about Eddie in the fat suit as the Penguin, in addition to Eddie as the Riddler? Then you add a "Little Man"-like Eddie as Robin, and Eddie in drag as Catwoman! It's got hilarious written all over it! The Bat-Klumps! Who's with me?

Regardless of where they go villain-wise, one thing the next movie absolutely has to do is kill off Fox. Batman can make do without him at this point, and he has that built-in Morgan Freeman likeability. He's dead wood, but sympathetic dead wood, so it would pretty much be a waste not to do it at this point.

Eh, this iteration of the franchise has met its "dramatic kill-off" quotient. I don't need it to go any more Marvel on me.

I'm not really sure what the Marvel thing is about. I thought comics in general were known for not killing anyone off/reviving them instantaneously when they do.

This franchise has killed off exactly one good guy. Although I suppose you could consider Harvey as being "killed" by the Joker 30 minutes before he is Batdefenestrated. Anyway, a sequel has to develope stakes somehow, and the villain has to have real teeth not to be completely overshadowed by Heath. And since they have still have a member of Batman's inner circle who isn't serving too much of a purpose, it seems an obvious choice to me.

But what do I know? I'm a guy who'd rather see a Robin-centric sequel than anything resembling The Dark Knight Returns, so my opinion is not likely to be certified kosher by Batrabbis.

Has Batman ever revealed his identity to Gordon in the comics?

I'm picturing a scene were Bruce Wayne goes to meet Gordon at his office and confesses so he could meet with him in private without being hunt down by the rest of the force.

That's something new they could do, but I actually like the dynamic they have in the movies in that regard. Wayne's faux-obliviousness with Gordon after the Lamborghini crash is probably the only moment of real levity in the last hour of TDK, and it works because Gordon doesn't know, and Bale is so good at playing self-centered yuppie. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that. Actually, if they're doing the Penguin corrupt businessman route, it might be interesting if he is able to smear some of his dirt on Wayne Enterprises, so that Gordon is trying to get Batman's help to investigate himself. Then when he realizes he's holding back, Gordon draws the wrong conclusions and blames Wayne for some of the Penguin's shenangigans. Or something.

Also, the secret identity angle is so common because it works. If I have one complaint about Spiderman 2, its that by the end it seems like there is no one left that doesn't know his big secret. They even hint that Robbie, who's had all of 4 minutes of screentime, is on to it.

That was one of my gripes with Burton's Batman films. Keaton couldn't seem to get that damn mask off fast enough.

Batman has tried to reveal to Gordon once or twice, and Gordon's all "I don't want to know!" But the hint is that he does know. Year One handled it best.

I've only read a couple of the comics, but it seems like this Gordon would be the most insistent with this. My favorite thing about Nolan's iteration is the uneasiness with the very concept of Batman, and having Gordon become more complicit would kind of undermine that. I actually thought TDK made him a little too comfortable with the arrangement, although it did establish at the beginning that he was relying on his resources to track the mob money, and they did a fairly good job of showing the Gotham PD as so dirty that conspiring with a vigilante is kinda sorta taking the high road.

Anyway, Gordon needs to stay a big part of the series. Oldman's so great in the role he almost makes even the stupid fake death thing work.

Yep. The whole "I don't political points for being an idealist. I have to do the best I can with what I have" thing was one of my favorite takes on Gordon. I'm still just kind of amazed they made Gordon a pivotal character. It's one of the things that grates the most about the Burton version.

Oldman's Gordon is so good I'd watch a movie starring him that didn't feature Batman. Actually the whole GOTHAM CENTRAL idea sounds better to me than any Bat sequel, even a take on THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.
