AC/DC - Where are you?

Been wanting to pick up the new album along with their other greatest hits, but I can't find them anywhere. All that exists are some shitty tribute band stuff on Rhapsody and iTunes... so where are they available other than shady Russian Mp3 download sites?

Wal-Mart has exclusive rights to AC/DC - shitty as that may be.

Wal-Mart has ALL of AC/DC's catalog? I thought that they just had the new album.
Everything. From High Voltage to Back in Black. (and everything before, in between, or after - those were just the two albums I thought of when I typed that)

Are they available for download? Or do you have to buy full albums?

Pretty sure AC/DC are as anti-downloading (even legal) as they are anti-sampling (ask the Beastie Boys).

Yeah you cant download them anywhere. And I was mistaken - Wal-Mart doesn't have exclusivity on the the old stuff - just the new album. You can get the old ones anywhere. Quick visit to BestBuy.com proved me wrong.

Yeah, that's the lamest thing I've heard in a while.

It's the new trend in exclusivity. In a similar move, Best Buy has exclusive rights to the new Guns 'n Roses album. We'd probably better get used to it for the high profile releases.

And if "Rock n' Roll Train" is any indication - fuck the new AC/DC album. You're better off not knowing where it is.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with buying an album from only one place... I have a problem with not being able to download songs legally from that place. It's really ass backwards and you would think a band would like to cash in on all of that.

And while GnR's new album (love it) is exclusive at Best Buy, you can still download it on iTunes.

Also, you can buy the new AC/DC on vinyl at indie record stores (or so I've heard-- have not seen). The CD is exclusive to Walmart.

I have the new album and it is no worse or better than the last two or three. There is one song however that I love on it called "Stormy May Day." Angus plays slide and it is pretty awesome. On topic though I have never been able to find any place to download AC/DC songs either.

It's easily found up here in Canada since that WAL-MART exclusive thing was U.S. only. Thank God.

I'm really pissed that AC/DC won't put their music on iTunes, but they allowed a Guitar Hero video game to be made out of it.

Also, my local Hastings put some copys of Black Ice on their shelves, even though it's a Walmart exclusive. Of course they also go to Walmart and buy copies of "Blockbuster Exclusives" to rent out.

They're hardcore like that yo.

I was going to say I saw it in HMV downtown the other day.

You know, you could always buy the CDs. The remasters sound pretty hot (all the levels are pushed up) and they're often just as cheap or cheaper than buying the lower-quailty mp3 version available for download.
AC/DC's deal is that they basically don't want people downloading individual songs of theirs. They want you to buy the whole album or nothing. They say this is because they think their albums should only be listened to as a whole piece of work. I might've almost bought this "artistic" position if they hadn't then promptly whored themselves out to Wal-Mart.
I would argue that AC/DC isn't really one of those bands whose music necessarily benefits from the complete-album-experience, but whatever.

I guess if you're going to whore yourself out to some corporate monster, you might as well go all the way with the worst one.

What a relief it is that I don't like this music.
What a relief it is we don't have to discuss it with you.

Black Ice is OK. Second half works better for me than the first. Then again, it seems weird to dissect AC/DC's music. I mean, it is what it is - not much experimentation going on, unless they did some recording techniques they've never done before or something.

I'd buy that if any of their albums where concept albums, but all their albums are full of standalone songs about drinking and fucking. Not putting out a greatest hits album has made them a lot of money and made Back in Black one of the top selling albums ever, I don't see why they'd want to change things.

I'd also buy it if they made any effort to have their Australian albums released in North America. They keep remastering and reissuing their early American releases, which are re-sequenced hack jobs like the early Beatles discography, with missing and substituted songs and different artwork. But I guess they make more money off people paying too much to import the originals.
