Can you summarize that down to one sentence of what Ebert thought? I got bored reading the article.

That was glorious.

*snicker* Actually, I haven't read it yet either. I'm a little busy, but I thought I'd jump the gun and post it now.

You should read it. It's really funny and the talkbacks are hilarious.

I might read the rest of it later, the intro paragraphs were really really boring though.

I just figured, what's the point? I don't care about Ben Stein or the movie he made.

So wait... the Flintstones isn't based on a true story?!?

Evolution involves holding onto your winnings and investing them wisely. You don't even have to know to how to hold onto your winnings. Evolution does it for you; it is the bank in which useful genetic mutations deposit themselves. There is a very slow rate of return, but it's compounded. At the end of one eon, you get your bank statement and find your pittance has grown into an orang utan. At the end of the next eon, it has grown into Charles Darwin.
Terrific.

At the end of the next eon, it has grown into Charles Darwin. Scientists, at least 99.875 percent of them, believe that in the long run only useful mutations deposit in this bank. Those mutations with no use, or a negative effect, squander their savings in a long-running bunko game, and die forgotten in the gutter.
That was pretty funny.

I thought Stein's gimmick was being "super smart".

My favorite talkback...

Ebert: I'll start with: Darwinism led to the Holocaust.

Good to see Ebert with a fire under his ass. Never knew he was so skilled at debate.

That was a thing of beauty, and made my day brighter already. Thanks for the link.

Ebert's been great lately. I've enjoyed reading his blogs moreso than his reviews. Asking for a one-sentence summary of this is a smackable offense. Sorry, billylove.

I knew Ebert was great when he thanked his doctors last year after recuperating from the medical procedures he had instead of god like many people do.

This editorial is just brilliant.

Reminds me of Bill Hicks...

"Well, the earth is 10, 000 years old, cause we studied it in the bible and added all the ages and what not. Ten thousand years."

"Wow, you really pushed yourself there."

He's still got it. I was getting worried, he seemed to be getting soft. But that was classic, indignant Ebert. Awesome.
