X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Page 3

I love the line from the movie that really sums up the game.

Sabertooth to the bar tender.

"You have insurance on this place?"

"... No."

"Too bad." *Swigs whiskey*

So I'm upto deadpool, who I assume is the final boss. Fucker is hard to kill. Way harder than any of the other bosses.

Do you have to go BACK TO BACK with your half-brother?

I wonder how things would be like if the game split between playing Wolverine and Creed like in the game for Star Wars III with Anakin and Obi-Wan.
No, you fight victor before you fight deadpool and he's not there to support you. Just one on one with the pool, who is a cunt to beat.

Speaking of the ending, I won't spoil anything, but the scope of the ending is much much bigger than anything put forth by the movie. If FOX's gaming division has any brains, they will commission Raven to make a sequel based on what this ending has to say. And they better not wait till the next movie is out. I don't see why we couldn't have another kick-ass Wolverine game before the another Xmen film hits the theatres. Just get Raven to do it.

Overall, this game was a big surprise. Big thumbs up to Raven for not only getting a "Wolverine" game right, but also making a Movie tie-in game better than the actual movie.

Alex, you going to be reviewing this?

This game was fun as hell and with only a few gripes:

-too many lame "miniboss" fights that were no fun after the millionth time
-weird pacing issues in the middle of the game that dragged things down
-last boss fight was super unclimatic.

But overall I had blast with this game. I really hope they expand on the ending in the sequel. That could be fun as shit.

I think the main issue with the game is that it has to adhere too closely to the film. The whole middle section when you're running around the base turns into a chore, it seems to go on forever.

The Deadpool fight wasn't too bad I thought. The key for me was countering, then pressing Y when he's down on the floor, then lunge and do the same thing whenever you can. I only died once in the fight and that was from falling off a stupid platform.

Still, that end cinematic was greatness. Loved it when he literally pulls the flesh off his hand.

I thought it was pretty funny when I came across this:

The sentinel fight was kinda awesome. If only they would have shoed in that intothe movie.

Also, WIll I AM is the father of nightcrawler hahahhaha
post #109 of 121
It makes sense on the most basic level. Of course, considering what happens to Wraith, why would Mystique work with Sabertooth?
Wouldn't she be a little girl when he died?
And where does the German accent come from??
Will.I.Am is everyone's father. FACT.

I enjoyed this game. Sure it was repetitive, and the effect of the hyper violence wore off half-way through, but I had a good time. However, whoever decided that adding platforming elements to this game should be hanged. Fuck you, it's Wolverine not Uncharted 2.
Not sure why everybody is ranting about the platforming in this game. It's called pacing. Check Dead to Rights 2 for a game that abandoned everything from the original but the core gun play. That game got old fast. It would have been more annoying if the platforming was really poorly handled or broken in wolverine. It isn't. It just mediocre to average.

DTR2 was just abhorrent, though. I don't know WHAT they were trying to do with that one. I didn't even get through the first stage before I ripped it out of my PS2 in disgust and took it back to Hollywood Video.
Eh, I didn't mind DTR2. Just got boring after a while.
Variety. That's the key word. DTR1 had it. And I guess that's what Raven were trying to interject into wolverine. Could they have interjected something other than Tomb Raiderish platform mechanics? Certainly. It's just that the platforming wasn't as bad or as broken as people make it out to be.
Maybe if they had pulled off the platforming I wouldn't mind, but the jumping is horrible. I can't tell you how many times I struggled with a jump because of how horribly designed it was.
Really? I died like 5 times through out the game because of badly timed jumps. That was it. Again, not saying the platforming was terrific, but I didn't find the mechanic's to be busted or anything.
Fuck the fucking bullshit broken platforming glitches on this bullshit Deadpool fight. Guy is SO easy to kick the shit out of until the place starts collapsing and Wolverine hits invisible fucking walls in the air and tumbles to his death every time i try and get anywhere. Try to lunge across the gaps to get him and he glitches halfway and drops to his death.

Shit way to end a decent game.
So yeah, I take back my "decent platforming" remarks from earlier when it comes to the deadpool fight at the end. Annoying as hell to beat for the all the reasons stated above.
Eh, I only was mildly irritated by the last fight. The first time he uses Cyclop's blasts to take out the ground with zero warning was annoying, but I just kept my lunging to a minimum and countered the shit out of his melee attacks.

I wish the Sentinel fight was more of a SotC style "climb up and slice at the head" instead of just wildly slashing at his toe.

This game has no right being as fun, violent and generally enjoyable as it is. I'm using for when none of my Borderland buddies are online and it's just fantastic. I love using the mid-air lunge to sort of flying tackle motherfuckers. It's also really cool how they worked in the regeneration ability, it's kind of cool to be fighting as Wolverine's chest essentially patches itself together.
