It's true! You take the essence of what the game is trying to do and you repeat that essence through a variety of scenarios and areas, each meant to be different enough keep the player engaged, but the formula remains the same. I'd say the best example of this formula are the Halo single-player games. Go to one area and take them all out, go to the next area and do it all over again.

A good chunk of that comparison was hyperbole, admittedly. But I think my disappointment over Uncharted and my love of Wolverine stems from expectations. Naughty Dog is a developer whose games I have never finished (never finished a single Crash or Ratchet game... never really gave the latter much of a shot), but nonetheless a developer I respect because of their pedigree. Wolverine is a game that should have been shitty; licensed product that is buggy in most places and shallow in others.
So while it isn't really a fair comparison (I dunno, maybe it was the jungle setting that made me compare the two), my main emotion towards Uncharted was disappointment while Wolverine surprised me. As an experience, Uncharted is about as bland as its hero.
