X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Page 2

B MetalSucks, I just do not like the game. I would love to play...Konami's X-Men The Arcade Game, in a Konami Classics Collection, if they ever make one that is. It is still my fave Superhero game ever. Also, you do not have to unlock any costumes, it is...2D, and you fight...The Brotherhood of EEEEEEEvil Mutants, Sentinals, and X-Men Origins Wolverine has nothing on that game.

Besides those superficial issues, it played quite a bit like God of War. Pretty much all of the moves not only superficially copied God of War but ripped the mechanics almost exactly the same. Still, the lunge mechanic was pretty cool when I could get it to aim at who I wanted it to.

Anyway, I may definitely consider either renting it or picking it up once it gets in the $30 price range. Still, this thing has a TON of grey ... wow.
Use the right analog to aim your lunge, a quick flick will move it to the next person. I'll echo the grey complaint but I guess I was just in a simple beat em up mood because I'm enjoying the hell out of this blood soaked game. I would recommend a rent to anyone who enjoyed the demo as the full game is fun as hell.

And fleed, I get it, you like the 2d fighters. Just didn't figure you to be so picky with your superhero games.

Just picked this up for 12 bucks after trading in two games. This game is more fun than it should be.

I guess that's why I'm advocating it so much. It really is "fun" in the truest sense. Also you better not have traded SCA after convincing me to dive into that one.
Haha, hell no. Keeping that, as more people from my forums are picking it up as well. It's too damn cheap not to. haha. I hope to break your neck in it sometime this week.
I think it's a great game. GotY? Of course not. A blast to sit down and just play? Absolutely.

It is very much like God of War, but that conceit won't work too well for most games. But it is perfect for a Wolverine game. Just vicious fun.

I think the graphics are pretty good. And the gameplay is very smooth.

B MetalSucks, I am not picky...I am Particular, about...many things. I actually trade in alot of games, as I enjoy games more, than I am able to finish them. I was much better at games in the 2D era as, alot of them had...unlimited continues.

Don't worry, you will as I'm terrible at it right now. I'm about neck and neck with Ari.

You may be the best merc in the game once we get it going. I'm way better as the spy. haha

I'm fairly adept at Merc, it's the whole "be quiet, don't rampage" thing that I can't wrap my head around.
Haha. It takes skills. This is not COD4.

CoD4 takes skills. RAMPAGE skills. SC DA takes sneaky quiet skills, very different. What I need to figure out is the different techniques that people use. I've only played the game a few times.
Damn, i love the fact that every time Wolverine Levels up, his clothes magically regenerate too.

This game is so dumb, but oh so fun! Everyone catch the LOST hatch in the first level ?
The demo for this is just the kind of over-the-top, blood-drenched, leveling up via mass-disembowelment kill-a-thon I need in a Wolverine video game. Probably not enough replayability to warrant a purchase, but I'm going to rent and love this thing to death.

Love the Temple of Doom bridge nod, and giving the pilot the ol' helicopter decapitation. Imagine they used that in the movie? Oh, the wasted potential..
Just played the demo.

Goddammit, I hate when I have to give Activision money, but for the right to plunge Wolverine's claws into a guy's face and slice him into Lunchables, compromises must be made.
I can't stop lunging towards people.
Also, the first fight with Creed is brutal. These to trash every place and they don't stop!
Played the demo...is it me , or did the developers threw the movie script in the garbage, made a basic outline for license's sake and then went to fill the game with over the top awesomeness?
It barely follows the script. That's a good thing.
Even the animatics go completely against the movie. Which again, is great.

Actually, funny enough, I was reading somewhere just this morning that Hugh Jackman fought to get moments from the game into the movie. I still can't decide whether that's sad or awesome or what.

Thats awesome...it means Jackman was fighting to make the movie better; heck, if the movie featured the game's opening and the bridge scene from the demo, id have watched it 3 times by now.

Is this the interview?

Does anyone else get a purple smear instead of blood during the helicopter kill?
So there's this black scientist in the game, who hates mutants and their "kind". Deep. Wolvie cuts his hand off and uses it to get access to his lab. Again: Go Raven.

Domingo : there's an "Uncaged" edition to the game. Maybe that's the uncut version?
Every version I've seen of the game has a purple smear instead of red blood, but only for that scene. Bizzare, if it's what I think it is and it's a ESRB censor problem, because that's the only scene that "took it to far" and it's a weird fix at that.

Do they highlight the fact that it's a black man who hates mutants, or a scientist who hates mutants?
Both, I guess. It's a short scene. You'll see.

The "Uncaged" Edition is simply the subtitle for the 360/PS3 versions to separate them from the T-rated PS2/PSP version, and the E10 DS port.

You are correct, sir.

Loving the fuck outta this game when it's not Tomb Raider lite.

Yeah, this is way better than Uncharted.

Same. Played it all afternoon. It can be annoyingly repetitive, but it's still fun.
Yeah,I gotta echo Rob's thoughts here. I mean how the hell could anyone not love the insane level of brutality and gore?! Mucho props go to Raven!

As far as the repetitive gameplay goes, though. Not a problem for me at all. I've always been in the firm belief that there's not a damn thing wrong with repetition,so long as the core gameplay is accessible and lots & lots of fun. And that's exactly how I'd describe this. It's one of those games that you'd put in and kill a few hours with when you don't know what else to play.
Any review that says the Sentinel Boss is a let-down is full of chunky shit. The end cut scene of that fight brought a huge grin to my face. And the fight itself was pretty cool too.

Psst, Raven, come here.

*whispers*Fighting the same WENDIGO/LAVA MONSTER would have been tolerated, if not for the EXACT SAME TACTICS THAT ARE FORCED TO BE USED*whispers*

My only gripe so far.

Just wait till you fight four wendigo's at one time. You'll be glad the tactic is the same. *

*excuse to brag that I got the "Ultimate Wolverine" acheivement.

Pretty much all games are 30 seconds of fun, then repeat. Uncharted has mixes of combat and platforming, just like Wolverine. Wolverine is better because it has combat that isn't boring (okay, one game you're using claws and the other you're using guns) and it gets the shitty platforming out of the way pretty quickly.

Oh, and I haven't beaten Wolverine yet, but I'm pretty sure the last third of the game doesn't replace all the enemies with fucking zombies.

Don't be spoiling Uncharted for people!

I can't disagree strongly enough with this sentiment. Quality-wise, Uncharted is a better crafted, more engaging, and better paced game. It has fewer technical glitches, far superior art design, and overall a just better experience.

Obviously I can't make you enjoy Uncharted more and if the transition in the later portion of the game just didn't click for you I can appreciate that. But still, I don't think that comparing the two games is really a useful process and does a disservice to how much more of a cohesive and polished experience that makes Uncharted so great.

I'm there at the moment, and it's killing the game for me (not because it's hard, but because it's fucking BORING). Anytime these fucktards show up, I start to doze off. It was fun the first time, not fun anymore.

It's true! You take the essence of what the game is trying to do and you repeat that essence through a variety of scenarios and areas, each meant to be different enough keep the player engaged, but the formula remains the same. I'd say the best example of this formula are the Halo single-player games. Go to one area and take them all out, go to the next area and do it all over again.

A good chunk of that comparison was hyperbole, admittedly. But I think my disappointment over Uncharted and my love of Wolverine stems from expectations. Naughty Dog is a developer whose games I have never finished (never finished a single Crash or Ratchet game... never really gave the latter much of a shot), but nonetheless a developer I respect because of their pedigree. Wolverine is a game that should have been shitty; licensed product that is buggy in most places and shallow in others.

So while it isn't really a fair comparison (I dunno, maybe it was the jungle setting that made me compare the two), my main emotion towards Uncharted was disappointment while Wolverine surprised me. As an experience, Uncharted is about as bland as its hero.

I just got this game and it's just pure unadulterated, violent fun.
I had a blast all afternoon slicing up fuckers. The fight with Victor in the bar was quite fun and got pretty hairy at times.

It's a shame the film couldn't capture half the energy of the game. Just the first mission intro, where Logan falls from the exploding helicoptor and lands on that guy had more of a badass feel than anything in the movie. In the game, when he utters "I'm the best I am at what I do" I fully believed it, having laid waste to so many enemies.

I think this game might have finally validated the character for me.
