According to wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Line...ongs_of_AscentIn a later interview with the Irish Independent in June 2009, Bono noted that although nine tracks had been completed, the album would be released only if the quality surpassed that of No Line on the Horizon, and that it would not be in 2009.
Like I said in an earlier post, a quieter album in the vein of 'White as Snow' would be fine by me.
My main issue with
No Line is its lack of identity. The band sounds confused about which musical direction it was aiming for, particularly if they were leaning toward a more experimental avenue. What's really, really frustrating is that certain aspects of tunes hit their stride like no U2 in recent years ('Moment of 'Surrender', 'Unknown Caller', 'Fez - Being Born'), but they ultimately feel more like collages of sound than fleshed-out ideas. Then there's songs like 'Breathe' and 'White as Snow', two of my fave U2 tunes ever, which hit from all corners to deliver an emotionally rich, highly cathartic connection.

Horizon, Crazy, Magnificent and Snow do it for me.

I'll probably go back to the album in a couple months. I just can't see myself ever putting it in the same league as their bona fide classics. It's a 3 or 3.5 star album from my perspective.
