No worries. Looks like I'm not going to make it to The Thing myself after all.

Will try to make it to AWIL though on the 30th.

I've not had time to really lift my head above the busy with work, so I've got nothing in the way of suggestions. Sorry, my man. Aside, of course, from us hitting Auntie Annie's or somewhere...

You too, man! Bit late, but sincere nonetheless.

I was just coming in to say how disappointed I am that something as horrible as this had to take away from something as encouraging this.

Just got back to Dublin last night from Berlin. Thank god we didn't fly back on the 6th like we originally planned, would've been even shittier than the 2 hour delay we had now. Looks like the whole place is still in chaos.

How's things in Belfast at the moment? Hope they're at least a little better than here.

Not too bad thanks, Andrew. There's been a fair bit of crowing about disruptions and that. The same thing that always meets snowfall, basically, and no different from what's happening in England from what I'm told. Just another conversation generator for bland radio shows. Glad you're back safe and sound, if not hassle-free sadly.

Anyone else suffering from the lack of water at the moment? They cut off our water yesterday, no heating, no showers, nothing. Got some snow from outside to at least be able to use the bathrooms, but this is just ridiculous.

We got our heating back this morning, but still, it's like we're living in a third world country.

The snow's all but gone, up here. Sorry to hear about that, man. I had no idea! Fingers crossed for a quick return to normality.
Well, now we have water, but it doesn't heat up at all. Ice cold showers, while refreshing, aren't very ideal.

Good to hear things are, at least, on the road to recovery down your way, Andrew. There was something on the news the other day about an area of Tyrone still suffering major water problems as well. Aside from that, though, things seem to have returned to pretty much normal for the most part up here.

Finally! After two weeks, a warm shower this morning! I can't tell you how good it felt. Looks like most of Ireland is getting back into shape with the water issue, at least it's out of the news now. Now it's just stories of people lighting dead animals on fire...
How are y'all? Mercifully, I haven't been hit too bad with the water cut-offs...

I'm grand thanks, Raz. Still on something of a high after yesterday's glorious result at the Emirates. It's a nice change from the embarrassment and worry the ongoing debacle at Stormont has been causing me over the last week or so.

What about yourself, man?

We really didn't get it too bad at all weather-wise. The snow made a very brief return a few nights back, but it's nothing compared to what it was. Just glorified slush, really.

We had some more good news today; the INLA have disarmed. Mercifully, they'd been largely low-profile for some time anyway, but it's still good to hear.
That is good news, I still can't belive we may be working towards a peacfully solution in my lifetime.

Thanks, Ken! Even after all the recent arms decommissioning (the Real IRA and a branch of the UDA have also followed suit today) I'm still incredibly pessimistic. They can give up their guns. Great. That's a start. Can they give up their grudges? Can they start having an immediate, positive effect at grass-roots level in their respective sides of the community where their status counts for something? That's what I want to know.

Yeah, this is really cool. I know it's a little naive to get too enthusiactic about a great change happening, but let's face it, if we knew just 10 years ago the stage things would be at now, I think we'd be pretty impressed!

I couldn't agree with you more, Raz. It's been beyond great to be able to post as much really positive news in here as I have over the past 12 months or so.

So on Saturday, we were at a housewarming party in Sandymount, Dublin, having a great time, meeting new friends, tasting some nice whiskeys and suddenly, it's snowing! Where does that get fun? I know I'm Finnish and all, so I should be used to it, but it's February in Ireland! Surely snow is the last thing this country should get at this moment.

Sorry for the rant, but due to this weather phenomenon, we had to leave the party early just to make sure we got home. Didn't get to try that very tempting 17-year old Bowmore...

Tell me about it, Andrew. It was snowing up here again the other day and it's meant to be back imminently. We don't seem capable of sustaining 10 centimeters without widespread panic breaking out. Airports are branded "third-world" willy nilly. It's laughable.

Beannacht Lá Fhéile Pádraig, team! However you choose to spend it (in my case, with the company of a good friend and some endearingly smashed cohorts.)

So I won't be able to post on this thread for much longer. After talking and talking about it for ages, me and my wife decided that our time in Ireland is coming to an end and we'll move over to Germany at the end of November. Mostly to give our daughter a better standard of living, plus having family closer.

I suppose I should start learning the language.

Wow. This is the bump to end all bumps, as far as I'm concerned.

All the very best for the future, for you and your whole family, Andrew. Ireland's loss is most definitely Germany's gain. Take care, mate!
