Anyone familar with this film?
I was obsessed with getting every Kurosawa film I could get my hands on at some point, and found this little gem which was a script of his, complete with storyboards-but ended up being directed by Kei Kumai after his death.

Really, if ever I managed to amass a fortune, I would give it all away for some of Kurosawa's production sketches. The DVD I have was a rental copy at the local artistic films vid rental place who let my mom purchase it for my birthday.

But is anyone else fmailiar with it? You see a lot of reoccuring themes, like how nature is a reflection/response to the action in the film, the more traditional Japanese traditions and that humor mixed with drama.

For a film with more in common with Kurosawa's latter work, it provides a strong contrast to his epic samurai films. I'ts almost fairytale like, a Kurosawa 'chick flick'. Strong performances, and when it comes to 'accurately but updating looks' for the women stars...(While commonly labeled geisha on the DVD box, these were more like traditional prostitutes who often worked in the same red light district the geisha of the period would work in)...has anyone managed to see this besides me?
