Probably only Phil cares about this. While researching STAR TREK episodes, I discovered that the reason Whitney left the show was her drug and alcohol problem, as well as her sexual assault at the hands of (unnamed) executives. It turns out that she became a hooker after that.

If I had been of age at the time I would have flown across the country to pay for some Yeoman Rand ass.

I'm pretty sure Phil's not the only one who will care about that. Holy shit. I heard something similar about one of the girls from Father Knows Best. Her husband was actually pimping her out.

Where did you find this, anyway? The Wikipedia entry only mentions the sexual assault.

I am shocked this hasn't happened more often. Some would-be starlet should have red shirted it on one of the modern shows, and then started her own ranch.

Following her appearance in the TOS episode THE GAMESTERS OF TRISKELION, Angelique Pettyjohn went on to do some hardcore porn, and many pornstars (especially back then) were available as escorts on the side, either openly or UTR.



I bet quite a few mainstream actresses provided similar services during lulls in their careers. There's a prevalent rumor that one of the 90210 actresses worked for a (still in business) high end escort service that connects clients to mainstream actresses, models and athletes for outrageous prices.

I remember hearing about Grace Lee Whitney a while back, sometime before the internet - I think maybe she got some talk show/tabloid mileage out of it in the 80s. (Watch for her Star Trek III cameo!)

The Pettyjohn story is an old one too, but I've never found a tape or anything like that.

Small world time: Pettyjohn worked under the name Angelique. She was in THE TOUCH OF HER FLESH, one of the films in the FLESH trilogy by Michael and Roberta Findlay that I wrote about in the latest CHUDsploitation.

She's also in ST VI as Communication Officer Rand on Excelsior; a role she reprised for the Voyager episode "Flashback."

Unfortunately, history repeated itself in TNG. I don't know how many of you recall that Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher) was replaced with Diane Muldar (Dr. Polaski) on Season 2 on TNG. The official word was that Gates had left TNG to pursue "other career opportunities." But the truth was somewhat grimmer. She allegedly had been sexually harrassed/assaulted by one of the TNG producers (not Roddenberry), causing her to quit the show and threaten to sue. Luckily, the studio was able to coax her back for Season 3 with some contract perks and the dismissal of said producer.

I knew about Pettyjohn's descent into porn. She co-starred in Titillation, the first hardcore film starring Russ Meyer starlet Kitten Natividad. That thing was a monster hit and it followed her for years. But shortly before her death from cancer she had something of a comeback when she did a best selling poster in her Trek gladiator girl costume.

I don't know which I should be more embarrassed about:

1) That TITILATION was the first porn film I ever saw (way back in the early eighties).

Or

2) That the hardcore Trekkie in me didn't even realize the hot older woman in the film was Shana from "Gangsters of Triskelion." It wasn't until after she died that I even made the connection.

I know next to nothing about Star Trek but I remembered this thread and I thought this might be of interest.

I was watching Samurai Cop for the 50th time, and though I already knew about the redhead actress Cameron being a former pornstar known as Kristi Lane, Rebecca Lynn, and so on and so forth, I just now found out that there is a Star Trek connection via Memory Alpha (amusingly enough, they don't acknowledge, or seem to know about her porn career).
