Sacred 2: Screw You, I Like This Game

Ok. Fairly standard Diablo-esque rpg, German developers, sequel to a game I never played. Who cares, right?

Well, as I'm doing the usual fetch-quests and leveling up, some of the npcs start mentioning a band named Blind Guardian. Ok, whatever. Then, during my travels, I meet up with the lead singer of said band, a guy named Hansi. Together we begin a sidequest that has us fetching all the instruments that were recently stolen from the band. It takes a while, and we travel a bit and hit a couple of dungeons, but eventually we get the items and return to the place where The Big Concert takes place.

And then this happens.

Yeah, German fantasy-themed prog-rock. Woo hoo. Still, I ate it up. And after the concert is over, the band gives you their instruments as a gift, and naturally they are all weapons. And they look exactly the way they do in that video.

The song is in my goddamned brain now, and won't let go (This world is SAAAAACRED!).

I love this stupid game.

BTW, it looks much better in-game, naturally. At 1080p it's brilliant.

What.

That is stupidly awesome.

If not for it being holiday times and already spending too much money (including all the awesome Relic RTSs) I would pick this bitch up, thanks to your startling revelation.

Is is better than Titan's Quest?

It plays almost exactly as Titan's quest, except in full 3d. I fucking love it.

The manual sucks, there's a bit of a learning curve as to figuring out how the hell to create and equip your character, but otherwise, this is a great rpg.

That is too cool, too bad I'm not really into RPG games. Maybe I should give them another try (last one I really played was the Bard's Tale III).

Seriously this game is both ridiculous and awesome in equal amounts. It's got so much heart and soul that I'm finding myself looking past the baffling lack of useful tutorials (hey game, thanks for telling me to look at this rock for the 17th time, now could you offer a VAGUE explanation of the entire level up system), the nebulous story and stilted dialogue. It's just really goofy and weird and GERMAN.

Too bad it's broken as fuck.

That might be why nothing in the game seems to make sense. I've had quest givers randomly walk into Bear Caves before and stuff like that. I just thought the game was being hardcore or something.

No, it literally doesn't work half the time. I had to stop playing after a few hours and uninstall because of it.
Ah, I'm on the 360 which is apparently 'twitchy' but 'stable'. I've literally spent the last forty minutes on the Sacred wiki trying to work out how to do anything other than bash the shit out of stuff with a pole arm.
This game's even fucking terrible on the 360. Seriously? Ugh.
Yeah, I was tiptoeing past the fact that the other reason I uninstalled it after a few hours is because it actually sort of sucks.

Well, I played the pc version with all the bells and whistles turned on, and played it through to completion without a hitch. I liked it quite a bit, and stand by my opinion.

Good for you? The game is busted on an actual programming level, not compatibility. I had quest givers disappear on me, one of which was required to progress the actual story, and then never resurface.

Also, it's Diablo with the clunkiest UI imaginable, so there's that. Not to mention some of the absolute worst voice acting I've ever heard.

Also, wasn't that godawful prog rock in that godawful intro? I know they were going for jokes there, but...god.
To be honest the incessant guitar and organ solos whenever you meet any enemy was one of my favourite facets of the game.

You watch your mouth about Blind Guardian!
I didn't get to meet any enemies because it took my fucking character eight tries to open the stupid fucking chests in the stupid fucking dungeon because it kept glitching and jesus christ I hated this game

one of my best friend's think this game is the best thing since sliced bread, thank you guys from keeping me from making a grave mistake.

You should probably kill your best friend. And we should probably kill Singer.

I concur. Blind Guardian is freaking awesome.

I wonder how much time they actually put into the song for this game. I mean, they usually take several years between albums to put as much creativity and detail into their songs as they can. I haven't played Sacred 2, but I have seen the Blind Guardian song on YouTube, and it doesn't seem to be quite up to their normal standards.
