Comics Blogging

Thread Starter
I believe we had a thread about it, or that it was mentioned in a thread, or something, but I can't find it, so I'm starting this one.

There are some very solid comics-reviewing and -commenting blogs floating around out there. If we view them as something resembling an "institution" then I'd say the world of comics reviewing is in much better shape than the world of film criticism (though I guess most of the best film critics are online these days as well).

I was motivated to post by this recent interview with Abhay Khosla, who writes for The Savage Critic(s). Khosla's become one of my favourite reviewers--he has a demented, intelligent yet stream-of-consciousness, profane style that reminds me of CHUD. He's also hilarious, as that interview shows. But everyone at the Savage Critic is really great as well.

Other faves include Andrew Hickey, who I linked to not long ago in the Dr. Who thread, Mike Sterling (though he rarely "reviews", often focusing more on the industry), and local boy Chris Bird (please don't be put off by the fact that the first thing on his blog right now is a clip of the Gilmore Girls). For sheer insanity, there's also Chris's Invincible Super-Blog, which has no intellectual value whatsoever but is a lot of fun. On the other end of the scale, (or maybe not?) The Mindless Ones features what seems to be deeply stoned but intelligent commentary, with a heavy focus on, appropriately enough, Grant Morrison.

Anyone else have a recommendation or three?

I'll have to check those out. I listen to some comic podcasts, but haven't read the blogs.

I'm a horrible comic guy. I don't follow any sort of comic blogs or even read Previews before I have to make my orders. Sometimes I think I subconsciously hate comics.

My big two are Spurgeon's The Comics Reporter and Deppy's Journalista...though I'm often checking out Eddie Campbell, Kevin Huizenga, and Jim Woodring's blogs, which are sporadically updated.
