*guess we gotta hook up now. Know any cheap motels between Wisconsin and wherever you are?
No, but I'm sure there are plenty of rest stop bathrooms. Bring your own disinfectant.

That would be me (although it's showing you as 85% similar). I've changed the name as well so as to avoid further confusion.

If anyone else wishes to say they knew me before I was famous, you can befriend me here.

Ok, maybe it's based on what YOU have rated. So, say I've rated a lot more movies than a buddy, it's going to be a lower percentage because they haven't rated as many movies. However, for them, it's higher, based on the percentage of movies they've rated? Fuck, I don't know.

I DO know the Chris is now highest at 82%, higher even than friends I have in real life. I have a new best friend now, I guess.

I just restarted my account, so I'll throw my hat into the ring.

Well, I posted my theory above based on my observations of my and mooveyphreak's side-by-side movie ratings. But I think your theory is also applicable. I've rated over 2000 titles. People who have the lowest ratings to me have rated closer to 200. So I think that plays a role as well.

If I had to guess, that'd be my guess as well. I've rated a whole bunch of stuff since I've been a member for several years (though I believe Diva has us all beat). Even when my account was on hold, I was still logging in and adding titles and sending reviews.

She has me beat if she's rated over 2463 movies (though to be fair, I don't know how many of those are simply rated "Not Interested").
None of my ratings are "not interested". If I'm not interested in watching a film, I'm not interested in rating it either. Also regarding my rating count, I've been a Netflix member since 2001, so I have 8 years worth of movie ratings.

This should be the Netflix catch-all thread.

It's funny you people mention the odd comparison system, because I dealt with it with a real life friend. I found his profile and added him as a favorite, and it showed we were 34%. When I mentioned this to him, he said that was odd because it showed for him that we were 47%. I then FRIENDed him, and it shot up all the way up to 72%. Very weird.

Casting fuck-ups I've noticed on Netflix: They showed Dan Hedeya as being in Alien, Dennis Farina being in Collateral and Anthony LaPaglia being in Road to Perdition.

Ever since I signed up at this place, I've been addicted.

I'm just glad to find out that I don't have TOTAL shit taste in movies. I mean, sure there's an occasional shit title but it seems like all of you who have added me have some too. I just wish the instant view had a little more selection. Of course I understand why it doesn't but I wish it did.

Late to the party. Again.

Friends are good. I love friends. <3
"Your friends loved Eight Below."

Who the hell is watching that shit?
I've added everyone so far but here is mine if you are interested.

I've added almost everyone I think. Most people I'm in the 80s percentage wise, so we should have similar taste. ETA: I think it's under the name "Beldo"--Beldar was taken

I guess moovey's been furiously rating cuz his similarity to me has shot up to 81% and is now top Chewer!
Fuck that, I'm off to give both Ace Ventura's *****.
I don't know if you know me well or are just being ironic, but I do love those films (and actually prefer the second to the first).
I think my favorite thing about this right now is the list I see when browsing a movie of what people rated it. It's much more effective than netflix's predictions.

Also, congrats to Chris, as he's my top compatible friend at 84%.

I'll also say that for the sake of my sanity, I've narrowed my friends down to the top 10 with the highest similarity ratings. Sorry.

As I just showed above, a few days could radically change the ratings. Honestly, I don't see having many friends as a problem. Although sometime I may look through people's queues via the friends page, the place where I generally browse people's ratings are when I go to a film specific page and the friend ratings are listed neatly in a row at the bottom.

The free month of netflix I received for Christmas is both the best and worst gift I've ever received. Best because of the obvious, worst because I now have another thing to obsess and spend far to much time on.
Yeah, moovyphreak's note about Talk To Me had me bump it to the top of my queue.

I'm glad I added everyone because I get to add actual film fans to my friends list, in addition to some of the stooges I've had there already.

Seriously, here is the movie note one of my friends left for The Game (1997):

"This movie was definitely entertaining and suspensful but was kind of stupid the way the ending played out. The predictability of this film didn't make any sense."

That had me laughing for hours.
Yeah, my friends list previously consisted of my dad and two friends. It's much more interesting now.

Ha! I'm tempted to add that to my queue now!

This is pretty fucking cool. My profile link.

The problem is, as you mentioned I believe, that I don't want to give it a bad rating because I like naked women. I don't want the Netflix algorithm removing potential nakedness from my suggestions.

Exactly.

You can't change the future. Embrace it.

Draw diagrams in your notebook. Make them look like boobs.

Bump.

Can't stand those alphanumeric Netflix names. No way I can remember who's who like that. I do enjoy having Netflix friends, though. Here is me:
http://www.netflix.com/BeMyFriend/P7ibMuJOoxGDxBvMGjxi

Greg David and bendrix, I tried adding both of you from Diva's page, but apparently you can only make somebody a fave (not a "friend") through somebody else's friend list.
moovyphreak - are you "ekt" on there? If so, we have 90% similarity. You don't want that name. Be "moovephreak" on there too.
About time I figured out how to do this.

moovyphreak has his CHUD handle and has dropped from being my top match to 71%. That honor goes to Medium at 82%. I am also friend's with Irk, but s/he has the least similarity with me at 61%. Don't knwo who that is.

Currently at 91% with Chris Anthony. Just changed my Netflix name to my actually name, it was csa[random numbers] before.
OH! That was you. I haven't checked this shit out in a few months. It peaked with Womb Raider.
Unfortunately, Netflix seems to be phasing out the friends feature.
That sucks. I was wondering what happened to my favorite feature. I liked that when you went to a movie's page, instead of random member reviews, it listed all your friends and their ratings.

Seriously? What makes you say that?

I mentioned this tragedy in the Netflix Problems thread.

Still upset about it.
