Netflix Friends - Page 2

What a piece of crap, the title should have been burn b4 watching. With all these stars you would have thought this would have been good movie, but thanks to the writer and producer of this thing they called a movie we had to watch this crap.
Ok, which one of you hates the Coens?

Not me. I rated that movie as "Really liked it."

On a different note, while his rating on Tombstone saddens me, I have to say that I'm more shocked by the fact that Anderson gave Tootsie only a single star. That's a crime, I tells ya. A CRIME!

I can't tell if my profile name changed. Does it say Diva? I've changed it twice now and it keeps reverting to the SB.. bunch of numbers name every time I refresh.

Edit: Nevermind. Apparently Diva is taken. My nickname is now Sabrica/Diva
post #54 of 139
I can't speak for Anderson, but for me, rating movies is more for gaming the recommendations engine than it is an actual rating system. If you like occult films but gave The Seventh Sign a single star, the rec system filters films from this genre much more strictly.

I don't believe in ratings or rankings. I thought you knew that. How else do you explain the odd number combos I pull out of my ass for movies?
And there's that. I'm specifically talking about Netflix, though.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about too.

Eric: My list is ginormous. Every time a Chewer mentions a movie I've never seen, I automatically add it. Usually it doesn't get to the top of my queue until month slater and I'm like "what the fuck is this?!" I kinda like it though. It's like the ipod shuffle. You don't know what's coming next, but its probably gonna be good.
My queue is is all over the place as well and it's bursting at the seams around the max limit of 500 titles. I tend to move stuff around all the time including just before I am sent my next title. I get in different genre moods frequently.
A lot of the more fucked up horror stuff is mine, a lot of the more erotically charged cinema is Carly's. The rest is where we intersect.
If anyone would care to add me. This is a pretty awsome idea indeed. I try to find a little more obscure type stuff, but am also partial to exploitation type stuff...the cheesier or more "shocking" the better.
I love seeing how many people rented Womb Raider.
that one wasn't on my list...too busy with Butterfly! Just happy to see one person with Grey Gardens in their queue, your in for a treat of truly odd proportions.
Oooh! Oooh! Let me join your cool group, please?!
I'll throw my hat into the ring here, as I spend more time deciding stars for my netflix than I probably do actively posting here, but alas.

http://www.netflix.com/BeMyFriend/PB1b6BnK0tlsRdtvPvV0

If I show up on anyone's netflix as a newly joined friend, I think I'm SAL9000 on there.
I just realized anyone who cares to know will now discover I just watched An American Carol. This is too fun.

Although, I have no idea which one of you is which now. Shit.
Probably should have mentioned before, but I show up on anyone's list as Ray Justavick.

Two newly queued, the above and Breastford Wives.
How did it take this long for somebody to think of this? Have we all been on crack this whole time?

I've now added everybody in this thread. Here's mine.

My queue is perpetually full. Some people don't understand how I can want to see 500 movies. Hell, that's not enough room for everything I want to see.
According to Netflix, my friends loved Gargoyles Season 2 part 1 and hated Red Dawn! What the fuck, guys, what the fuck?
I can't take responsibility for Gargoyles, but I did savage Red Dawn. Sorry, it's terrible.
Here I am fellas, mock to your hearts content.
So apparently, Chris Olson is 90% similar to me. That's whopping.

I'm surprised to see the final season of Walker:Texas Ranger in the "Your friends hated" section. Not because they hated it, but because it means that somebody actually watched it. Scary.

You're still showing up as SB 298576 in my Friends list. If I remember correctly, when you submit your profile name change, it says it will take a few hours for the change to register in their computers before it will be reflected.

What am I showing up in your Friend list as?
I've got Sabrica/Diva on my list, so it must have worked at some point.

By the way, how do some of you have over 600 movies queued? It keeps cutting me off at 500.

I'd bet that would have to do with the date you joined Netflix. I'm limited to 500 as well.
Is it over 500 including Watch Instantly? I'd assume that's how people are getting over 500.
That could be. I'm a secondary queue on my wife's account, so anything queued on Instant is actually on her account.
Now that I have 30 Chewer friends (holy moly), here are my top similarities:

CA 246939 78% (Still don't know who you are)
Dan Baker 76%
RJJ 76%
Greg David 75%
RZisky 75%
Chris Olsen 74%
Medium Dave 74%
mooveyphreak 74%

The rest of the Chewers are between 73%-60% similar. Several non-Chewer friends surprisingly top Chewers with similarities in the high 80s.

It says my nickname is Sabrica/Diva on my homepage. You show up as mooveyphreak.

500? I thought I was bad topping out at just under 300 movies in my queue. Is it possible to even get through 500 movies? There have been movies on my list for years because I keep moving newer releases to the top.

It's probably not possible. There may be movies in there I'll never see, and ones I'll forever forget to add because there wasn't room when I thought of them. Maybe I'll start yet another profile just so I can get another queue. That wouldn't be at all insane.

I was so shocked that Anderson has bad taste I forgot this.

*EDIT* Everyone in the thread added. Diva shoots to the top with 87%

I have one non-CHUD friend at 89%, but Medium Dave is buzzing just below at 88% as my top CHUD match. Other top matches include RJJ at 82%, Diva at 81% and a tie between Jeremy Butler and C. Swicegood at 78%. The remainder go down from there, but all CHUD folks pass at 60% or higher.

One day, you're going out of this world just like Michael Hutchence.
Right now GD leads my list of CHUD pals with an 85% similarity. Moovyphreak is next at 74%. Swicegood rounds out the top three at 71%. The rest hover in the mid to upper 60% with the exeption of TzuDohNihm at 55% (Jeff Dunham rated two stars higher than Carpenter's The Thing...really...really?)

If I have it would have been Clockwork Orange style.

I have actual restraints. My belts kept getting torn up.

Kids and The Thing on Watch Instantly and fell asleep because it was so late. When I rewatch it I may reassess the rating.

This is so interesting. I can't figure out how they rate similarities. Does this mean that mooveyphreak has more diversity in his queue, so the number of movies I haven't seen or rated lowers my score?
Apparently I'm dn 243655462 or some other number. How the hell do I change my name to something legible?
Go to your profile. You can change it all from there.
I had a hard time finding my profile page. Go to the "Friends" tab and a link to your profile will be on the right hand side. Click "Profile" and type in a name where is says "Your Nickname".

Edit: So if you click on a Friend's profile you can see how both your ratings match up. You can also sort by "Most Loved," "Most Hated," etc. So from what I can gather after look at mooveyphreak and my movie ratings side by side is that if I loved a movie, it's likely he loved it too. However if he loved a movie, I may or may not have rated it as highly, if I'd even seen it at all.
Weirdly, I don't have anyone above 80. Most of y'all are in the 70-80 range but some of you motherfuckers are in the 60's. Shame on you for not being awesome like me.
That is weird, because it says you're 88% similar to me.

Don't make me feel bad about that night I snuck into your house and looked through your DVDs.

One needs a way to make friends, dammit.

It's hard to tell who is who but my top five are:

Medium: 89% similar

Chris: 87%

Moovyphreak: 86%

don'tEATnachos: 86%

RJJ: 84%
Added some of you folks. At the top of my list is Greg at 89%. I think we have to hook up if we top 90%.

Add me here.

Netflix says we're at 90% on my side. I really want to know how their ratings and percentages work.
Yeah, that is weird. 80% is the highest anyone has on my list. Maybe it means that I've rated a lot of shit someone else on my list hasn't?

which is weird, Billy, cause it's telling me we're only at 75%

Yeah, I think we need to figure out exactly how Netflix is rating us. This is confusing.
My top five Chewer friends are as follows:

GD (90%)*
Sam (82%)
RZiskey (81%)
C. Swicegood (79%)
Sal9000 (77%)

*guess we gotta hook up now. Know any cheap motels between Wisconsin and wherever you are?
I wonder if our percentages will increase now that we're all able to look at each others' diaries.

Yeah, there's definitely something weird, because it only shows you at 69%. I don't get it.
