Y'ever type out a joke and then immediately regret it?

Well, that's what I did here.

The BART Police Officer was a "TWO YEAR Veteran" of the force

The speculation is this 2 year veteran actually intended to fire his TASER rather than his GUN.

But one thing I do have to point out: if you have a cop or cops telling you to lie down and not move, FUCKING DO NOT MOVE! I don't care if you fear ass rape, do NOT move.

Other BART shootings

Deadly force:
Officer David Betancourt, a 22-year law enforcement veteran, shot a naked Bruce Seward outside the Hayward BART station before dawn on Memorial Day in 2001. Seward, 42, was asleep on a bench and appeared unconscious. After calling for an ambulance, Betancourt approached when Seward woke up, grabbed the officer's nightstick and swung, smacking the patrol car, police said. Betancourt used pepper spray on Seward, but it had no effect, police said. Family members and mental health advocates decried the shooting, but a BART review cleared Betancourt of wrongdoing.

BART police Officer Fred Crabtree was cleared of wrongdoing after he shot an unarmed 19-year-old man, Jerrold Hall, from behind at the Hayward station in 1992. Crabtree died in 1996, apparently hanging himself. Hall's father, Cornelius Hall, sued the agency and won what he calls a small settlement.

I was just getting ready to post this. Fuck, I'm not saying I'm advocating riots, but I also would be pretty hard pressed to blame rioters. This looks like a straight up execution by an itchy trigger fingered asshole with a badge. Anything short of public flogging prior to life in prison is too good for this waste of flesh.

As far as I'm concerned public transportation cops are basically security guards. They really should take away their guns, but based on the prior shootings, maybe never riding BART is a good policy.

Looks like you got your riot, Chris.

Question: BART stands for...?

Again, I'm not saying I advocate it, but it's tough to blame them. What an utter outrage.

Patrick, I'm guessing Bay Area Rapid Transit?

Yes.

I was reading the comments on FARK (I know, I know) about the news story related to this, which only cemented my theory that the fucking place is a stone's throw from Stormfront at times.

Some retard made the statement "You never see white people doing this!" and a few souls responded "Yeah, well, who's getting gunned down/detained by the cops more on a regular basis, white people or black people?", and then the discussion just went further downhill from there.

Comments like that make me want to encourage riots. Go to these internet tough guys' trailer parks and throw some shit around, folks.

Ever since this thread went up, I've been searching for this Las Vegas PD video they showed us in combat pistol school.

There's a guy on the ground, cuffed, and a cop is covering him with her pistol. Her finger's on the trigger, and she accidentally discharges her weapon, just missing the guy's head. Everyone freaks out. While she's reholstering her pistol, she discharges it again.

The moral of the story as it applies to combat pistol school: always keep your index finger outside the trigger guard unless you intend to shoot right now.

The moral of the story as it applies to this discussion: it's possible that the BART cop was just a moron. I'm going to wait until the investigation comes back before I pass judgment.

I just watched the video. Holy shit, this cop is either the biggest moron the universe has ever seen or he's a homicidal maniac acting out some fantasy.

It's like Chief Wiggum come to horrible life. Thank God this guy wasn't CHP because I'd hate to see what happens when he tries to administer a breathalizer.

It cuts before a second discharge, but she's all bumbly in her reholstering, not hard to believe.

According to the video report embedded in the story linked above, the BART cop quite the force the morning he was suppossed to get interviewed about the shooting. So becuase he quit, he doesn't have to get interviewed!

Well, it stops him from an internal affairs investigation but he's still subject to a criminal investigation, if I remember correctly.

BART cop transported to Bay Area jail, charged with murder

Johannes Mehserle, the BART cop who shot and killed an unarmed man in Oakland on New Year's Day, sat behind bars in a Bay Area jail on Wednesday night, charged with murder.

Appearing in a Nevada court Wednesday, Mehserle waived extradition and returned to the Bay Area, where he was taken to Santa Rita Jail on the murder charge — a rare filing against a police officer — that was announced by Alameda County District Attorney Tom Orloff.

Mehserle's arrest, however, for the shooting of 22-year-old Oscar Grant III, did little to dampen the outrage in a city already beleaguered with economic troubles and skyrocketing crime.

Ever since Grant's shooting was captured on a cell phone and widely replayed on national television and the Internet, protests have erupted in San Francisco and Oakland, where many residents have had long-running tension with law enforcement.

Wednesday evening, protesters once again took to the streets, in a largely peaceful rally of more than 1,000 that began with a march in downtown Oakland amid a heavy police presence. At first, the protest appeared to be in sharp contrast to the violent demonstration last week that led to the vandalism of dozens of buildings and the arrest of more than 100 people in the city's downtown business district. But as the night wore on, a splintered group of demonstrators began a rampage through downtown, smashing windows at a dozen businesses, vandalizing several cars and forcing police in riot gear to spray tear gas. At least 18 people were arrested, the majority on suspicion of felony vandalism.

Witnesses told authorities that Mehserle fired a shot into Grant's back while Grant was lying facedown on a train platform at the Fruitvale BART station in Oakland. Grant and others had been pulled off a train after reports of fighting, as New Year's Eve revelers headed home after midnight.

New court documents say Grant had his hands behind his back and another officer was kneeling on his neck when he was shot.

The allegations were revealed in an Oakland police officer's request for an arrest warrant. It said it appeared from cell phone video that "Mehserle shot and killed Oscar Grant while Grant was restrained and unarmed."
