Nycc '09

I'll be there. Still no idea what my whole schedule will be like but thankfully have nothing else planned around it (had a trip for Battlefield: Bad Company last year that killed the weekend) and will be down for many many drinks afterwards, before, and during.

I'll be there. I have dinner plans for after the con, but I'd do lunch w/ fellow Chewers in a heartbeat. Hell, I'd settle for just getting to meet folks, the elusive Mr. Fleed in particular.

Please, if fleed shows up (which he won't) take a picture of him!

Fleed will show up. Unfortunately pictures taken will resemble those taken of Bigfoot.

I'm also going to be in the city Thursday night for an event, so if anyone's around there let me know. Iggy- we have got to meet up again. If we can set something up I can bring another stack of books.

I am not really hard to spot...as I was one of the only attendees wearing Miami Dolphin sweatshirts last year. Just tell me what booths you all are at...I will definitely visit them. I will even take a picture if asked. I might attend Friday, but I will definitely be there Saturday and Sunday. The best food deal in NYC is...Gray's Papaya on W37th and 8th ave. While Papaya King is the best Hot Dog vendor in the city...Gray's hot dogs are nearly as good.

People really care that much about him, though? I mean, really. Influential and done a lot for comics and all but why would you want to talk to him?

Just to say you did. What horror fan wouldn't want to be able to say they met & talked to their favorite writer or director? It'd be like talking to John Carpenter, or Stephen King, (or maybe more like H.P. Lovecraft or Poe, if we're talking formative influence), or Ray Harryhausen or somebody.

Takashi Miike is bringing his latest movie "Yatterman" to the convention before it opens in Japan.

That makes me reconsider not making the trip up there.

Even though I never watched the 70's anime series...Yatterman, I am a huge fan of Tatsunoko's other works like...Gatchaman, Macross, and of course...Mach Go Go Go Aka...Speed Racer, so i will definitely be seeing Takashi Miike's Yatterman, after seeing the trailer. The film clearly captures the insanity, bright colors and of course the Giant Robots of the decade known as...The 70's.

So, does it look like we can all do lunch on Saturday? My group's typical MO in years past has been to arrive about 11 (doors usually open around 10), wait in the humungous line, & go in and wander all day. I assume Cordo will already be there, as he's w/ a vendor; can you get away sometime around noon to 1 PM? And will Alex & JCassidy be there by then? Or the elusive Mr. Fleed? How about anyone else? Maybe we can pick a central location, like Cordo's table or something, to meet up? I only say this because it's next to impossible to hear anyone on a cell phone over the noise of the crowd.

And yes, Alex. Bring the books. I'll have my trademark, oversized blue LL Bean backpack with me as always. Plenty o' room in that sucker. And I have the feeling, unfortunately, that I won't find many Creepies this year.

IggytheBorg, I do not know about anyone else...but I will be attending BET's Black Panther panel at 11 am-Noon, as well as...The Marvel Animation panel, from 1:45-2:45.

I should not be too hard to recognize, wearing a Dolphin sweatshirt/pullover, a Jan Sport back pack, jeans, and black sneakers.

You're bound to be disappointed Clark, the fantasy never lives up to the reality.

I could probably do lunch after 1, but I'll have to see how my schedule goes. Also, let's just say that there are some things going on at the Con that you'll want to be there at 11 for (on Saturday)... so you should definitely show up early. Let's just say that although they haven't announced any movie panels yet (I don't know why! It's in a week!) there are some really big names that will be presenting.

Friday looks like it might be best to go out drinking afterwards. I'm not sure how keen I am on going to the "official bar" of Dave and Busters, because that place becomes a madhouse on the weekends, filled with tourists and ghetto types. Fucking Times Square. We'll figure something out, though.

I might be busy Saturday night with stuff and I'm not sure how late you guys might be hanging out, but we'll figure it out. If you're going give me a pm so we can trade phone #'s and such.

It looks like Saturday from 1:00-2:30 would be good for me to grab some grub with you folks, if you'd like to go for lunch. I'll wear my CHUD shirt so anyone can recognize me and tomorrow I'll see what looks like a good place for all of us to meet up. Should have a main page article up about all the events today- besides the movie panels there's a TON of gaming stuff, and I heard from my EA boys that they're going to be announcing a new title today and showing it off this weekend. Hopefully it's not the new Madden or something.

But yeah, that's what I've got so far. My schedule's going to be hectic as hell but I'd love to meet up with as many of you as I can.
