Well, you're right on the front. On the other hand, it did reflect actual conversation with DaveB, Zooey, and others. The "magical realism" point didn't come out of thin air. I didn't think of it so much as a gag as I did a refutation.

Oh, I never doubted it was real. I figured you know them "IRL" or post on their blog or just PM'd each other. But I don't think you're refuting the point of "you don't talk about movies on the board" by recounting a conversation you had with board members privately.

That wasn't Devin's point. Maybe I wasn't clear enough that I do talk to them away from the boards, maybe he wasn't clear that he was making his point as it related to the boards...we're both a little vague. But, when I saw the Slumdog thread become a race to say "it was good!", "it was SO good", or "I kind of liked it less than the rest of you", I didn't feel a rush to participate. Sometimes, these threads are a great resource for films (The Fountain and NCFOM spring to mind). Sometimes, they aren't. When they aren't, I'm totally willing to choose a different avenue for my discussion.
