Well, isn't he still protesting Canada's annual seal hunt? That was only two years ago, right?

New Album Has Been Leaked

It is awesome.

Some strange choices regarding the order of some of the tracks, seems to me that the delay in the album was down to some shuffling and re-ordering by the record company and the inclusion of All You Need Is Me and That's How People Grow Up is a slap in the face to fans.

But the majority of the new tracks are great - it is a real change in musical direction for Moz and his vocals in this are spectacular.

I'm Okay By Myself, It's Not Your Birthday Anymore and Black Cloud are real standouts.

Live he still kicks ass - am seeing him twice in the UK in May and am counting the days.

Ahh!!! Poor Morrissey. So uninformed... oh well.

Not that it stopped Paul McCartney from playing here anyway.

I'm seeing him in Belfast on May 2nd.
Got tickets to see him in Durham, NC in March. I haven't picked up the new CD yet, but I heard a couple of tracks on the radio--sounded pretty good. I don't have high expectations for the concert, so I don't think I'll be disappointed.
Fuck the west coast, just play 4 or 5 shows in Texas, that's fine.
I saw him last summer in Dublin, with New York Dolls. He was having a great time performing and it was a great concert all around. Was quite surprised to see him do How Soon Is Now. He did about six or seven Smiths songs all in all that night. It was a very good concert and if he's anything like that on this tour, you're in for a treat.

After weeks of waiting for onsale info for his DC date at the Warner theatre I hear that it was this morning. I'm having a tough time justifying $65 a pop for back row against the wall seats.

Very solid show. He was generous with the Smiths songs, and went through three shirts early on.

They played a bunch of Shocking Blue music videos on a big screen before coming out, as well as some New York Dolls and Jobriath, which was fun to see.

My curse (being stuck near an audience member who can't simply enjoy the show, and instead is having some sort of religious experience from the cheap seats) continues.

I've seen him live a few times the last was at the Paladium Theater in Hollywood. Standing room only, a few hundred people. It was great! He did some new and old stuff. How Soon is Now was his closing number and was worth the price of admission alone.

In retrospect, and this happens with so many performers, I'm bummed that there was not ONE song from the previous album (Ringleader of the Tormentors), though he seemed fairly fond of songs from You Are The Quarry. I'm not sure if it was by design or by the sudden copycat phenom of fans rushing the stage, but his encore was very brief- "The First Of The Gang To Die".

At the concert in Hollywood, someone asked him to do some songs from Kill Uncle and he said, "Not while blood flows through these veins!" Hmmmm?

Looking at the tour dates you posted Phil, sucks that he's not coming to the west coast, though he will be performing at Coachella.

If you still have myspace, Morrissey is interviewed by Russell Brand. 6 parts.
Interesting interview. Morrissey being his ususal nebulous self. He was talking about animals and extinction; does he know that 99% of all animals that ever existed are already extinct. Hmmmm.

New album sounds pretty good. Is worth some downloads?
I think it's his best album since Viva Hate.

Here's two singles. God damn it he got old.

The DVD-havin version has the Russell Brand interview, two live performances from talk shows and a video; nothing that's not on youtube.

Correction - the interview with Russell Brand is not the same footage from myspace. 20+ minutes long and pretty funny.

Both those are songs are very good.

Throwing my arms around Paris sounds very Smiths-like. Actually like that one better.

Yes, he Moz is clearly showing signs of aging. But at least he's aging gracefully; no signs of surgical enhancements. Though, his lack of protein may have something to do with his look of emaciation.

He doesn't look emaciated in the least. He's heavier than he's ever been. But he looks like a 58 year-old Irish barkeep all of a sudden.

I didn't get a chance to get to Coachella this year despite the awesome lineup. So I'm stuck to watching the webcam. Right now I'm watcing Morrissey and Phil, your right, he's a got a potbelly going. I've always known him as a slim dude, guess he's loading up on the carbs being a vegitarian and all. Sounds awesome though. Sang a Smiths song or twol and his "good" new stuff.

I saw him last night in Belfast. It was fantastic. The set-list had a lot in common with the one Phil posted above (right down to starting with "This Charming Man" and the encore.) There were also similar wardrobe shenanigans. It's the most I've seen a crowd enjoy themselves in a long time. On the way out, most people were talking about the gig with unchecked enthusiasm. It made a nice change from the usual "too cool to be seen enjoying anything crowd" who usually parade themselves at my kind of gig. We were treated to "Girlfriend in a Coma" too.

Two UK shows (and a Jools Holland appearance) canceled due to illness.

Terrible news. Which ones? A buddy of mine has a ticket.

Birmingham and Royal Albert Hall.

Think the one in question was for Manchester. Still, sad for those with tickets to the shows and appearance you said. Hope he makes a swift recovery. Thanks, Phil.

Brixton Academy canceled, Mile End Troxy Ballroom canceled. "Doctor's orders."

He also turned 50 during this spate of cancellations. Hope he's not depressed and hiding in bed.

Feeling better:

Quote:
I am very pleased to confirm that we will resume at Luxembourg this coming Friday (5 June), absorbed and collected. I have been reconstructed by a Wiltshire hospital and I am as close to good health as I'm likely to get.

I apologize to everyone caught up in the to-ing and fro-ing, but the disappointment of postponement is less than the disappointment of hearing me sing on one engine.

I should stress that nothing has been canceled. The four London concerts are repositioned in July, and both Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall are October fixtures. I've endured a titanic struggle against an intolerable virus lately, and although Hull, Hartlepool and Manchester were nights that comprised a whole life, the physical limits were reached. False notes crush the soul.

Besides Luxembourg and beyond, I am excited about the October release of Swords, which is an 18-track compilation of b-side of singles from the last three albums. This will be a Polydor release.

Thanks to everyone who bought 'Years of Refusal'. We were the number one seller in the UK for the week of release, but, as with 'You Are The Quarry' and 'Your Arsenal', we were booted off the number one spot on the last hour of the final day. We cried.

I would like to point out that some passable creature is using my name and sending sharply chiseled replies to people via Twitter, MySpace and Facebook. This person is not me. Not enough happens in my life that I would wish to share it with others. I do not scan these sites – or whatever they are - so I can only hope that whoever is posing as me is at least worth talking to. Beware of false imitations.

Thanks for reading these unvarnished facts, and thanks for giving us some greatly enjoyable nights on the Refusal tour.

Absolutely yours,
Morrissey.
