PETA, in an attempt to re imagine the entire edible contents of the ocean into cute fuzzy wuzzy critters people won't be able to bring themselves to eat, have launched an attempt to get people to call the denizens of the ocean "Sea Kittens" instead of you know, fish.

I googled around for a good while before posting this because initially I refused to believe it was the real deal.

If PETA could get pragmatic and accept the fact that they're better off trying to solve problems rather than trying to be clever with their marketing, then we wouldn't have to put up with this nonsense.

And given the nature of media, which will only ever follow bad stories, this would never catch fire, but can some of you nice, normal vegetarians and vegans do something equally crazy, but positive, to counteract PETA?

I've been wanting to create some sort of group that's like a Sane PETA. Basically people who care about animals and try to prevent animal cruelty and improve farming conditions who are also not batshit crazy fanatics. WE DO EXIST!

I just watched the Bullshit show on PETA recently too. It's amazing how they keep seeming crazier the more I learn about them. How do so many ridiculous organizations like this exist? I don't mean animal rights organizations, I mean all these fanatical extremist organizations that are run by wackos and yet generate a huge following, what's the deal with that?

How does Scientology exist? How does the Atkins diet exist? How did Jonsetown happen? The people I have met in my life don't seem to reflect this kind of sheer stupidity. What am I missing?
