Batman: The Brave And The Bold

I've been watching some of these, and they're pretty fun. This Batman isn't as over the top as West, but you basically get to see Groovy Gadget Batman team up with a DC hero every week. The episode with Batman, Plastic Man and an island full of dinosaurs has been the best one so far.

They got R. Lee Ermey to do the voice of WILDCAT in the latest episode. That's a stroke of Genius.

I was going to start a thread on this last night, was kind of surprised there wasn't one in the first place.

This is a lot of fun, I love the art style, stories and general retro tone of the series. The one with green arrow vs Morgain le Fey was lots of fun, specially with the the intro segment of Batman with all the Green Lanterns.

This is just about having fun stories, no dark and gloomy Batman here.

I'm looking forward to actually seeing Jack Kirby's Kamandi in animated form.
Watched a bit of this on YouTube, it's actually very cute and funny. I don't actively watch television anymore, but I hope this does well, they seemed to have established an absolutely perfect tone here.
A friend burned some of these to a disc for me off a torrent. It was exactly what I needed in the hospital.

On his episode of Justice League Unlimited they got Robert Forster to play an aging Wildcat.

Great leaps above the last Batman cartoon, I loved the episode Day of the Dark Knight.
I wanted to watch these online, but the damn Cartoon Network website only has the latest episode.

I like the episode, though. I love that they're now willing to go with an Adam West tone for a Batman show again. Kind of odd in the wake of The Dark Knight, but I'm not gonna argue with it. I want a Green Lantern cartoon now.

One nitpick, though, and it's a peeve I have with many versions of the King Arthur myth; Excalibur was not the sword in the stone. I hate that.

Edit:
Diedrich Bader? Really? Wow. I would have sworn that was Kevin Conroy.

Bader is surprisingly good as Batman.
"Jig's up, Kiteman!"

Here's a link to the Plastic Man episode:

"Let's get the spoils back to base. And appropriate their finer accoutrements."

"Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Cause I'm seeing gorillas, with harpoon guns, riding pterodactyls, stealing a boat."

I like it.
It's a pretty goddamn fun show, Bader is surprisingly pretty perfect voice Batman.
And the music... someone should splice this into act three of Begins, thereby fixing all its problems.
I have seen only the episodes with Blue Beetle and Plastic Man, but I loved both of them.

Thank God someone decided to get away from all this "dark, brooding" crap and get back to fun, comic-like action. Being a child of the 80s, I just loved seeing Plastic Man in cartoon form again.

Excalibur question: did the Lady of the Lake give it to him, then?
Actually, in most of the earliest written versions of Arthurian myth, Excalibur WAS the sword in the stone. (So sayeth Bulfinch and Wikipedia)
Actually, the very wikipedia entry you mention states that in most versions of the myth, they're separate swords. The generally accepted, and most common, version of the myth states that Uther Pendragon shoved his sword into a stone before his death, and that only his heir could draw it out. Arthur did wield this sword, but broke it in a duel, after which Merlin took him to the Lady of the Lake, who gave him Excalibur, a sword which could never be broken.

None of which has anything to do with Batman, but hey.
Im sorry but after watching "The Drew Carey Show" Diedrich Bader just can not be Batman to me
post #17 of 190
I seem to remember a similar attitude from a lot of people concerning the qualifications of the guy who played Beetlejuice and Mr. Mom. That seemed to have worked out okay.

It's just the voice, man. It's not like you have to look at him in the suit. Would you have thought that Luke Skywalker would make a good Joker?

Just forget about the Drew Carey show like the rest of the world.

That's a better answer.

The most entertaining episode for me has been the Christmas episode featuring Red Tornado. The only annoying thing about that one was it featured a character who was clearly Toyman, but was given a different name for some strange reason.

I did catch the Wildcat episode and I like it

Yeah, I thought that as well. I'm actually Tivo'ing the episodes and enjoying them. Watching the Aquaman episode next.

That's the only episode I've seen and, yeah, it was pretty fun. Red Tornado's Christmas present to Batman was awesome, as well: a coffee mug with the slogan, "World's Best Detective". I have to think that was an homage to "The Office".

I liked the prison break scene in the Green Arrow episode, where there are quick glimpses of a few of the original super criminals created for the old TV show: Shame, the Bookworm, Egghead, and of course King Tut. Looking forward to the Jonah Hex team up. It'll probably be Bats in the old west, but I'd rather see Hex somehow get zapped into contemporary times.

Aw. I thought Kamandi was going to get his own episode.
The actual team up with Deadman was pretty good, though. Once again Tibetan techniques save Batman's life! Eat it, Gentleman Ghost!
Just caught my first episode of this last night, it featured Aquaman and the Atom teaming up to go inside Batman to fight a disease he got from fighting Chemo. Although jarring at first, the characterization of Aquaman as a cross between Marvel's Hercules and the Tick was hilarious.
Saw part of one episode, but the commercials they ran during it made me feel silly.
The pre-credit scene involving Plastic Man and Elongated Man was great. I loved the constant bickering between the two of them.
Fun episode, Chemo even had the Godzilla roar!
That is now my favorite rendition of Aquaman, he was kind of a nut job it was great.
This show is fucking awesome.

Watching it is like being 10 on the carpet in front of the television with a bowl of Lucky Charms.

Aquaman as Captain Hammer/The Tick is inspired. DC should take notes. So much more entertaining than a hook-hand.

I'm loving the wry humor and the unselfconscious silver-age comic-booky quality. I'm stoked to buy this on dvd for my friend's kid.
I came across the tail end of the Green Lantern episode and I was surprised at how into it I got. It's nice to see a good old fun cartoon without all the anime influences and stuff.
This show made B'Wana Beast/Freedom Beast interesting. That counts for a whole lot, in my books.
Wow - did anyone watch the show this Friday? Really good episode.

Plus, I believe that the Joker finally makes his debut this coming Friday. And I couldn't tell from the commercial, but is Hamill voicing him again?

Doesn't really sound like Hamill, but the episode looks like a lot of fun.
What I really want to see is a full Jonah Hex episode.

It is actually Jeff Bennett doing the voice of the Joker/Red Hood. He's been around for years doing voiceover work. He's best known for doing the voices of Dexter's dad on Dexter's Laboratory and Lord Bravery on Freakazoid. I'm looking forward to next week's episode. I think it is the season finale.
I'm such a sucker for alternate universe/different versions of the same characters crap that the Part 1 episode made me very happy inside. And seeing Owlman dressed in the original version of Batman's costume in the previews for next week was kind of cool as well.

The show actually just got okayed for the back half of the first season.
I hope the guy who did the voice for the Red Hood is the same for the Joker. It's quite a different take, so I'm interested to see how it would sound. Funny that we get the 'origin' of the Joker and his first appearance in an alternate universe story.

This show is just too great ...
Well, that was an impressive episode.

"Oh, what's this one do?"
Crap! I'm here at work right now, I'll have to watch this online when I get home.
I guess we get to hear Batman sing in the near future.

The best part of the new episode was when Joker spots the 'Joker wing' in the cave starts having flashbacks about all the "good times".
I think this show is totally awesome and I'm starting to like Jeff Bennet's Joker more than Hamills. And yeah, Wade... The Joker flashing back to the "good times" as you said, was wicked.
I don't know if it is better than Mark Hamill's take on the character, but Bennett's Joker certainly is fun to listen to. He really loved calling himself the Clown Prince of Crime.

And, unless my eyes were playing tricks on me during the commercials, we will be seeing the B&B version of Scarecrow on Friday.

Your Halloween trail of terror dead ends here!

The latest episode was jam packed with Guest Stars. Scarecrow, Jay Garrick, Sherlock Holmes (!), Watson, Crazy Quilt, Gentleman Ghost, and The Demon. It was one of the better episodes I've seen. My only complaint is that The Demon still hasn't escaped his rhyming gimmick. I wish he'd go back to speaking normally. The rhyming gets old very, very quickly.
I thought that was the Creeper who rhymed everything, but then recalled it was Etrigan. He actually did it in a way that didn't make it sound too corny.

Speaking of which, how about a Creeper episode?

Given your name, it seems appropriate to wish for a Martian Manhunter guest spot while you're suggesting Creeper.

J'onn J'onzz, please.
The constant references to the 1960s Batman series and Jeffrey Tambor doing the voice of Crazy Quilt made this a very memorable episode of the series.

NOT THE SIDE CAR!
I'm expecting next week's Bat-Mite episode to be a standout.
