NORMAL, Ill. — Wedding bells meant Taco Bell for Paul and Caragh Brooks.

Customers inside the fast-food restaurant continued to order tacos and burritos as the couple sat Friday in an orange booth at Taco Bell and exchanged vows.

"It's appropriate," groom Paul Brooks said. "It's an offbeat relationship."

Employees displayed hot sauce packets labeled with the words "Will you marry me?" They decorated the restaurant with streamers and balloons.

The bride wore a $15 hot pink dress and the entire wedding cost about $200. Several dozen guests looked on as the couple's friend, Ryan Green of Normal, administered the vows while wearing a T-shirt. He was ordained online.

"This is the way to go _ there's no stress," said the groom's mother, Kathy Brooks.

Caragh Brooks, 21, of Australia, met Paul Brooks, 30, on an Internet dating Web site. They already had the same last name.

The couple wrote back and forth and talked on the phone for nine months before Caragh Brooks moved to the United States.

"We have the same brain, just in two bodies," Paul Brooks said. "We think alike in virtually every manner. We have the same interests, viewpoints."

He proposed on New Year's Eve and, because they like to spend time at the local Taco Bell, they decided to wed there.

"I would never have expected in my life in working here there would be a wedding," restaurant manager Carl Hamlow said.
Once again, I can neither sigh loud enough, nor roll my eyes hard enough.

Of course, when the woman is quoted as saying "We have the same brain, just in two bodies," I have no problem believing that these two only have a single brain between them.

The divorce will take place in a White Castle.

Coincidentally, I'm considering marrying their new Bacon Cheddar Gordita.

She looks hot. And a cheap wedding is not a bad thing.

I'll say this: getting married in a Taco Bell is probably better than posting in a thread about people getting married at Taco Bell.

Not one Tuxedo t-shirt? Don't these people have any class?

And as for them. I think they were just fucking around.

Damn, she's hot.
Not the mental image i created when i read the article.

Aussies typically are my friend.

Actually, those pics make it look like it was a pretty cool little event. If nothing else, they'll have a great story to tell their friends and children later on in life.

She IS hot, too.

Yeah, they figured. Let's save a few bucks but rather than just go down to City Hall. Let's have some fun. I.E. Taco Bell.

Good to see that Bride Wars was wrong.

Sounds like a couple that would be a blast to chill with. As someone else said, I had a FAR different mental picture of what these two would look like..
When the article said $15 neon pink dress, I was thinking neon pink TARP

I guess I'm just pissed that they stole my idea. Now I'm relegated to Carl's, Jr. for my future nuptials.

Exactly, she's about 200 pounds less than I imagined her and the groom to be. Suprise!

Give them a few years, once their metabolism changes.

I'd like to know where all the anti-gay marriage, "sanctity of marriage" people were when this happened.

Awesome use of the word "eschews".

And of course she's hot, she's 21. He looks like Bob Balaban though.

I don't see the connection.

But I do see the avatar. And I like it.

I guess he's trying to say that these people getting married in a fast food joint is defamtory against the "santicity of marriage" i.e. must be done in front of a church in front of an actual religious offical.
Is that so? I didn't know there was a campaign to abolish civil marriages.
There isn't. It's an attempt at satire.

Not that those guys are not huge assholes but you seem to be confusing "wedding" with "marriage".

I'm just trying to say that I think this does more to destroy the "sanctity of marriage" than 2 homosexual people getting married. Sort of playing the whole "because straight people have treated it so well" response to opposition to gay marriage.

This could well be the case. Egg on my face then. I just think that two people who love each other should be able to marry, regardless of race, sexual orientation, or fast-food eatery.
