The Novint Falcon controller

This is a pretty cool controller, specially for FPS games. Not sure if you guys are familiar with it.

Much better if you use the Pistol Grip of course;

Also turns out that it might be coming to consoles now that it has more developer support;

It's currently kind of pricey though.

This has been on display at the computer store across from my office for over a year, and while the force feedback is really, really cool, I find the whole thing awfully unwieldy. The "ball" grip it comes with isn't very comfortable. I haven't tried the pistol grip though. And of course the footprint of this thing on your desk is ridiculous.

I'm surprised it's getting some developer traction, but there's obviously a lot of potential here. If there's some way to provide the same kind of resistance with a much smaller base, I'd give it more serious consideration.

Yeah, the default handle they have does not look ergonomic at all.

I'm also kind of surprised they're getting so much support, they seem to be doing some things right. I also imagine they must have a pretty nice/easy to use SDK for integrating support for the device in games (kind of curious how they do this with collision detection).
