American Idol 2009 - Page 7

I was holding out hope that Danny would get the boot, especially after this week's performance. Ah well.

At this point I'm rooting for Adam and all his flaming goodness. Kris has a real shot at winning this, though.

"You've done Queen. You've done Cher."

What is Seacrest trying to say? As humorous as that was, he could probably shut his stupid mouth before the show gets cut off again.
An entire season of Idol and Adam never tried out Guns'N'Roses.
Either people finally got bored by Gokey, or they completely manufactured an alternative to what was sure to be the most obvious final episode ever. Of course now the ending is even more obvious.
even that last comment by Simon that Seacrest questioned was out there.

People hated Gokey. He pimped his dead wife, got too much praise from the judges, and got a spot in the Final 3 despite one of the worst performances in Idol history.

Ending may not be that obvious. Adam is gay and a certain segment of the population don't like the gays. And many of those were Gokey fans. If the 1 million vote thing is to be believed then Kris has a chance for the upset. Assuming the Idol producers allow that to happen.
Kris has a better shot than most people think. I think fatigue has set in with a lot of viewers when it comes to Adam. His continual infusion of scream-singing in every song is wearing thin. Also, I think Gokey's fans are more likely to switch to Kris than Adam, like Anyawatchin Angel said.
Yeah I'm getting tired of his screaming in EVERY single song. For the rock songs it's great, but not in every ballad he sings.
Yes! My faith in the American people is partially restored. Gokey is gone. That guy sucked ass.

For once I agree with you all. Lay off the high notes, Adam! It's okay to just sing occasionally.

It's a tough call. Adam is better than Kris vocally, but Kris has the more commercial appeal. I'd be happy if either won.

I think I am going to pull off the upset! Go me!

I wanted to ask you, did the evil Hollywood liberals make you spell your name with a K because the CH is too christ-like? Or has the decadence of LA made you turn against you lord and savior?

Just wondering.

Horrible final show. Very boring to have them sing a favorite song. Then they choose 2 songs 10 years before either was born. Way to be current and relavent. What's going on has been done a 1,000 different ways by every artist imaginable.

The final song was total shit. Simon couldn't even bring himself to judge the final song.

Why take the competitiion out of the hands of the contestants the last week? Let them do any song they want. Also let the singers choose from a list of songs or let the do an origional piece they wrote.

Why did Katie Holmes bring Suri to the show? She really think a 3 year old cares.
So Kris for the win huh? Horrible.

He will fade away quickly.

I saw exactly 13 seconds of the show last night, but from what I did see...what the hell was Tatiana doing? Did I hear right that she got up and came up to the stage and started singing as Ryan was saying, "Go away. Seriously."

And as for the final results--how many times now has it come down to the final two, and the winner wasn't "the favorite"? Which makes me wonder even more how much influence the producers have on the final vote.
I'm so happy Kris won. It's great to see the judges/producers get screwed out of the Adam/Danny finale they pimped all season. It doesn't hurt that Kris will make the kind of music that will actually get radio play.
Wow. Could they find guest artists who were any less relevant?! Rod Stewert almost broke a hip up there. I did love the Adam/Kiss duet and Queen will always rock.

Can't say I'm surprised at Kris winning. It's probably for the best, though. Adam isn't beholden to any contracts now and can make the kind of music he wants without having it sanitized for mainstream American.

Megan, boy does she suck. I had forgotten at how utter awful she is. And Allison, fuck, she butchered Cyndi Lauper's song. My love for the Oil Rig guy remains. Everyone else sort of just faded into the background.

This is the first season I've watched all the way through. Not sure I'll do it again.

This saddens me more than Adam losing the title.
If Rod Stewart is that old, Maggie May must be 102. Also, Adam fucked up big time, when you introduce KISS, everyone knows you say "YOU WANTED THE BEST?!? YOU GOT THE BEST!!!"

I died a little inside when Black Eyed Peas did their latest dumb-as-fuck song, and Ryan Seacrest pointed out they've won three Grammys. God I hate the music business.

Gayken disses Adam. I wonder what got his panties in a bunch?

What's funny is that you have to pay to read Aiken's blog. $30 bucks a year. Fuck that noise.

Now, I have never followed American Idol but judging from the pictures. Is Kris a really small guy or is Adam a really big guy?

We expected more from the man who "shocked" the world with his coming-out...five years after everyone stopped caring?
Now for the record, were it not for his cousin Kenneth Parcell. We would have forgotten about Aiken a lot faster. Like, Taylor Hicks fast.
Sadly, that suggests people watch 30 Rock...which they don't.

I rest my case.

One of these days my nieces (currently age 4 years and 6 months) will ask, "Did people really used to watch that American Idol show?"
Finally got around to watching this on the ole TiVo last night. Well, I ffwd through 98% of it. Eh, I liked Kris better since I enjoyed his covers more. Adam still has a ton of talent and should make a very nice career for himself.

Hotness is still oh-so-fucking-awesome. That pink outfit was quite nice. I will miss her.

Proof that the votes were rigged?

Quote:
The New York Times is reporting that American Idol's Kris Allen may have had a little help from AT&T, one of the Fox show's biggest corporate sponsors, in winning this year.

According to the Times, AT&T provided phones for free text-messaging services at two Allen parties in Arkansas on the night of the finals. Citing sources, The Times reports that AT&T reps showed party-goers how to "power text" -- cast 10 votes at the touch of a button -- which violates show rules.

Power texts, according to the Times, "have an exponentially greater effect on voting than do single text messages or calls to the shows toll-free phone lines."

No similar efforts appear to have been made to provide free texting services to Adam Lambert fans.

Angry Lambert supporters are now claiming in online chat boards that the competition's voting was rigged.

While Fox has yet to comment, AT&T issued the following statement: "In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested."

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette first reported on the possible skewed voting last week.
I know I mentioned this over at the youtube thread. But there's a video of Lambert from his high school graduation. I had no idea he was a really really white guy.
There's been debates of the votes being rigged going back to season 2 with Ruben beating Clay.
This is not a debate though. AT&T admitted to showing up to Kris' parties and handing out phones.

Oh my god. That song. I can't tell you how many graduations I've attended that had that song. I wonder if Boys II Men knew what kind of monster they were creating.
And there you have it.
What I mean there have been those to claim that the AI producers openly (and privately) favor certain contestants over others going back to season two. Granted, there isn't much "debate" about that because it's true.

Tom O'Neill claims to have "evidence" that tons of votes for Clay were thrown out because the producers didn't want him to win.
