The new 'Since U Been Gone'...

OK...another piece of shit by an American Idol. Why did ...Since You Have Been Away... make any ripples among those who usually listen to loud music and not pop divas? Haven't they heard of the Buzzcocks or another band along those lines? You know, fun pop-rock bands that actually make good music...this tune is beginning to age very quickly...

Since you've been gone was an awesome song, fuck anyone who mocks me for liking it.

I'm with ya bud. I actually really enjoyed that whole album.

I don't want to say "ever written," but Since U Been Gone is definitely one of the greatest pop songs of the decade. Anyone who says they hate it is lying, or lacking in taste.

Or the more probable thing is they're on the CHUD message board and by human nature inclines them to believe that people will only like a certain music group and ban another, it's a very natural response when you talk with people you have certain assumptions about. I like to think CHUD is a place where you can like anything you want and you don't have to defend your reputation for liking it.

Unless you like Pink.

Amirite?

Yes. Yes it is.

What makes the tune work and the entire Breakaway album is Clarkson's vocals (also, her last album, My December, while not nearly as addictive as Breakaway, has enough gems to prove her worth as a singer and songwriter). She can hold a tune with the best pop divas in the land, and she doesn't come off as being showy or melodramatic while doing it.

This new single will slowly slink into your inner earlobes and snatch them up until you give in to the glorious pop craft on display.

Yeah yeah yeah. My point applies to ANYTHING. I'm willing to bet money you have something worse than dancing to a rocking Pink song with a bar tender at an Irish pub one drunken night. I know I do. LOOOOOOVE me some High School Musical and Newsies songs. They're great.

It warms my cockles to see the "SUBG" love in here.

My only hope is that americans are born with a thick taste for irony.

Canadian. She's no Idol of mine.

I haven't heard the song myself, but I suppose it's too much to hope that it's a cover of the Rainbow song of the same name (save the word "you" spelled out). Never cared all that much for Blackmore, but that song's catchy as a mofo.

It's hard for me to listen to Since You've Been Gone without hallucinating Mc Hammer's "get buck get buck" now, but yeah, hating on it is trying to hard.

It sounds very Katy Perry-ish.

Precisely what I thought. Would've been shocked if someone on Idol even knew who Rainbow was.

Goddamn, this is a great pop song.

It's gonna be tough to top Clarkson's new disc for best pop album of the year. With some editing, it could've been near-perfect.

Once again, her biggest strengths lie in the rocker/heavier numbers. Luckily, there are enough of them to satisfy that bubblegum-with-an-edge craving. Even the ballads don't drown in syrupy goop thanks to Clarkson's shatter-proof vocal chords and sincerity.

Listen to 'I Want You' and tell me it doesn't make you smile. Those holier-than-thou indie hipsters don't count. They're already miserable souls.

Seconded. Clarkson is probably the only "pop" singer I've seen all of my buddies jam out to. And I know some real meat heads if you know what I mean.

That so many want to hail this song, yet so many love to pile on a band like Kings of Leon around here just leaves me shaking my head.

My (albeit limited) girlie pop taste extends more in a Lilly Allen direction personally.

My only problem with Kings of Leon is that I feel like the singers voice is under-utilized on like 90% of their songs. Personal preference for sure but it's not like I rip them.

I agree with this. "All I Ever Wanted" is a fantastic song. It should be the next single. And I got to disagree on the ballads; I really like the string section/arrangement on "Cry."

Oh, I like most of the ballads ('Already Gone' is probably my fave, while 'Cry' showcases her extraordinary vocal range the best). But the rockers are, by far, the most electrifying tunes on the album.

'I Do Not Hook Up' is the second single.

Faggots.

Since You've Been Gone is better...

Same here. Or seriously jagged Nine Inch Nails synths between every line. I love that mash-up.

Preach it from the mountain top brother.

The Fear is easily the best pop song released so far this year, and It's Not Me It's You is one loveable little album.
