Actually, it's that deer are generally very populous in areas where we eliminated their predators. Farmers (and people in general) don't generally like having wolves and other large predators around. Without the natural predator (unless hunters have to fill that role) the population grows far too large.
Deer wasting disease, mad-cow for deer basically, is thought to spread as well as it does now only because of the unchecked deer populations results in unnaturally high populations density and consequently easier communication of diseases.
The deer need to be murdered, just preferably in a way that is as painless as possible for them and as delicious as possible for me. Might I suggest some venison chili at your Superbowl party?
