What is the best way to search for old threads?

I've had some luck with Google, but I was trying to find the post release on King Kong, and came up blank.

Click on "show all threads from the beginning" at the bottom of the forum you think the thread may be in and if you know the date of release for a film or when a thread may have been started it's not too hard to track down.

Isn't there some boolean syntax (or some such thing) that will allow us to use Google to search CHUD.com?
Create a thread that's similar, and someone will invariably find the old one for you.

I'm shocked I didn't shit on King Kong in that thread. Such a terrible movie.

I just use the 'Advanced Search' option and fill in the domain field chud.com

The best way to find an old thread is to enlist the help of Darkmite.

Edit: Also fun to see Devin getting mad about a post-release thread being made before the movie comes out.

I went through it a few minutes ago. That poor guy that got banned in the first page was right!

Just type "site:chud.com" (or "site:chud.com/forum")

For example,

click this

And the thread you're looking for will almost always be in the first page or three of google returns. There are more advanced methods, but this is 95% of it.

I just read my original post in that thread. Sigh. At least I had some complaints with the film, so I wasn't completely lost in a haze of love. But yeah, I wasn't seeing it as clearly as I do now. My opinion has fallen quite a bit.

Man, Dickson just wouldn't hear of anything bad about the film.

Edit:
Apparently, by page 6 of the thread, I'd already cooled considerably.

Jesus Christ I read thread and can't believe I gushed over it with such love. I can't stand that film these days.
This is a fun game, actually. I love going back and reading people's initial reactions to hotly anticipated films.

Ha ha you dumbasses! Jackson sold you a shit sandwich and you were all like OM NOM NOM GIMME MOR!

Thank god I didn't have the internet when Phantom Menace came out.

I remember right after I saw Borat, I was convinced I saw the funniest film ever made.

Oh past self, how you embarrass me.
No, you may be right about that.
Yeah, it may not have great replay value, but Borat is really, really, really funny.
Funny, I bought the three-disc DVD of KK when it first came out a couple of years ago, and it still sits on my shelf unopened.

No it isn't.

I'll let you be wrong this once, but only because you have lady parts.

I remember my reaction to TPM. It was this: Not bad. I stand by that. My reaction to the other prequels? They were terrible. I stand by that. My reaction to the Matrix sequels? They were terrible. I stand by that. I'm trying to think what I've reversed course on. I may not think 8 Mile was a masterpiece, but it's not bad.

This never finds anything for me, although the threads I want probably disappeared mysteriously.

Searching thread titles alphabetically is laborious, but it's worked for me. If you save old 'reply' emails, they have the name of the thread and the forum it's in.

Related: is there any way to search for one's own entries beyond the 500-post limit?

After the LOTR films, Jackson could no wrong for me, so I overlooked a lot of King Kong's problems because Jackson had built up so much good will with me. Looking back, the whole experience was like dating a really hot woman for six months only to discover she has really horrible flatulence problems -- you know she stinks, but she looks so pretty.

I was actually hoping to find my first CHUD post ever in that thread. I don't remember exactly in which one I posted it in, but I do know it was a Kong thread from after I'd recently seen it.

And yes: LOL at everyone loving it. I'm sure I had an inordinate amount of love for it as well. Hell, I had too much love for Spidey 3 upon first seeing it (note: I don't hate it like most even now).

Borat is funny as shit. It's lame-o's who couldn't/can't stop doing impressions of him that ruined him for you, most likely.

I'm just really stubborn. And I like a good excuse to blow-off work.

Found this little nugget in the "Kong" thread:

Here you go. I think it includes everything before the last change:

Wow. You guys really loved Kong, eh?
We were so much younger then.
I still dig Kong. I know it's flaws compared to the original and as its own thing, but fuck it. There are some sick sequences in this film and for that, I'm hooked.
Could someone help me find the link to Devin's piece on 9/11 conspiracy theorists?
I remember taking shit from a number of people when I mentioned that I didn't like Jack Black in the trailer. YOU FOOL, IT'S A CASTING MASTERSTROKE! they said. THIS FILM WILL CHANGE THE WAY WE WATCH MOVIES! they said.

And I still like Borat, too.

Some of you chaps really don't have much use for that middle ground between 'masterpiece' and 'piece of shit', huh.

Thank you, James.

I agree that it has some great sequences. So does Jurassic Park. The prize for that is that I'll watch those sequences again. Not the whole movie.

If you actually read what we've been saying, you'll find that most of us are now firmly in that middle ground. I certainly haven't descended to "piece of shit". It's just not very good.
