LOST --- Season 5 - Page 2

Less than 2 hours (not counting the recap show)! I'm PUMPED.
Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. Seriously, these last few hours are deadly. I need to go find something to do.
As an adult, this is the closest thing to that Christmas morning feeling I had as a kid. Oh, the anticipation has been damn near unbearable today.
What a sad, horrible realization that I'm looking forward to this more than past Christmas.
ummm in the dharma initiative clip towards the beginning of the recap...was that Devin as a scientist?

I swear its either him or his evil clone.
Let's get this motherfucker started.
I wasn't going to watch it, but this recap show is pretty great.
I'm also psyched that we get the return of Cuse and Lindeloff's podcast.
Here we go!!!!

-- Marvin Candle!

-- Faraday was in Dharma in the 70's!!!

-- The beechcraft and Ethan. My heart can't take this.

-- "Desmond is my constant."

-- Ana Lucia?! Hurley's still talking to dead people.

So now I know what the producers meant when they said they are "breaking The Constant" every week. According to the rules, everyone else (besides Daniel) needs to find their constant or they die, right? We already saw Charlotte with a bloody nose. I'm curious how they are going to address this.

What a crazy first hour!

-- Mrs. Hawkings. Geez they are trotting out everyone. Did I see Abbadon at Hurley's house?
Did the time jump have an effect on Sawyer's teeth?
ETHAN! Liked that Kiefer Sutherland narrated the commercial right afterwards, haha.
I'm on the west coast... Damn it, only 6:35. When does the recap episode begin?!
Loved Richard answering Locke with, "It points North, John." Ahhh, Locke and his stupid questions sometime ("Is this the magic box?" Ben: (shakes head): "No, John").

You lovable lug, you.
Is it me, or did that first episode last about 10 minutes? Damn.
Holy shit Anna Lucia! This is so fucked up and I LOVE it.

I hallucinate about Michelle Rodriguez traffic stops all the time. But, they never write an episode around how I spend a Tuesday.

"Oh, and Libby said hi."
Is this Neil's first episode?

Neil popped up in another one or so. I remember him from Eggtown, I believe.

I don't really follow this show too closely, but I enjoy discussing it with a friend of mine, because I am convinced I am right about it.

So, one way or the other, either the flashbacks/forwards are an illusion, or the Island is (maybe the flashbacks are different from the flashforwards, but I don't really see any reason to believe that). Who you got?
You're wrong.
If so, then it's an impressive piece of work. That is my hope, at least.
I'm getting tired of Neil - he should go back to being in Domino's commercials.

edit - Oh good. I guess that flaming arrow took care of him.

You have the power divine.
Shit Bloody Wanker is the Constant.
That arrow to the gut was awesome.
Neil was in an earlier episode with Hurley. If he dies now, doesn't that disprove the rules as set from The Constant?

Propositions for coherence: 1. There is no physical time-travel. 2. Hurley is not crazy. If I'm very wrong about these things, then I have not been corrected by my friend, who watches the show far more closely than I do. In this instance, my apologies, and nevermind.

I'm 95% sure the paintings in Sun's apartment are Rothko.
Renee Zellweger is doing Lionsgate movies now? Thank God.

Dude, go watch "The Constant".
How awesome was that Locke save? Ben answers to Ms. Hawking?
All I have to say is I Heart My Shih-Tzus.

And HE THREW. A HOT POCKET. AT BEN.
Refresh my memory: who was the old woman?

Also, how did Faraday know that it was Ben who moved the island? I guess you can assume that Faraday knew that Ben would be the only one who knew how to move the island, but that's just an assumption.

Oh, and one more thing -- LOVE. So glad the show is back.
"Then God help us all."

Aw man, the time flew... A whole week now until more new Lost? Ugh!

Wasn't Neil wearing a red shirt?

ETA: Is Ms. Hawking Faraday's mom?
Ms. Hawkings is the lady from Desmond's time travels that told him the rules. You can't change the future. It will always course correct.

Yeah, that one bugged me.
Brilliant premiere. I'll have to say though, both episodes flew by FAST. It almost felt like it was only one episode that was aired.

The hot pocket throw was genius. Also nice nod to Expose.
Great premiere!

I spent the two hours obsessing over the significance of "Shotgun Willie".

As much as I hated her character, weirdly, love seeing Ana Lucia pop up now. (Season three wasn't in vain!)

If Ben doesn't turn out to be a villain, the writers are really going to have to work to make his arc make sense.

Oh, how I love John Locke in kickass mode!
The old lady was from that third season Desmond episode correct? She tells him he can't buy the ring for Penny correct?

Daniel was in Dharma in the 70's. Which I assume means at some point he became "unstuck" in time a la Desmond in "The Constant". In this ep Faraday tells Desmond to go see him at Oxford, which Desmond in the flash forward seemingly does. Which means if Faraday jumped to the future while he was unstuck in time, he would know about the island from Desmond's future visit.

Edited for clarity. Although don't think it helped.
The tempo of these episodes reminded me of 24 when it was hitting on all cylinders.

Loved so many moments in each episode, but I'm gonna need a second viewing to process it all. So glad this show is back.
The bit with the memory fading is new tonight right?

Right, but he wouldn't know WHO moved it. That's my issue. Again, I'm assuming he assumed it was Ben because who else would know to do it?

Watched it last week. Very affecting episode. Another better-informed friend of mine told me that 'the Constant' absolutely demolishes the proposition that there is no physical time travel. I don't buy that. It's a cheesy out, and while I do not have any fundamental faith in J.J. Abrams ability to deliver on what he's promised, I am willing to give him the benefit of some doubt.

No physical time travel. I'm sticking to that, and if I'm wrong, then shit, that's kind of silly, don't you think?

Did he say this after Sawyer said Locke was still around? If so, Daniel would know that Ben was the one.

Edit. Daniel would know because Kate told all the beach people that Ben and Locke were going to the Orchid. And it is pretty clear now that Faraday knew what that meant. That's why he was urging everyone to get off the island immediately.

"The Constant" reinforces the no physical time travel. The whole point of having a constant is because your mind is unstuck in time and needs to ground itself by latching on to someone or something that you know or care about in both time points. Desmond wasn't physically time traveling. That seemed pretty evident.

It seems that Daniel is being set up as the Basil Exposition for the ret-conning of the show, the one that will explain all of the holes that they couldn't figure out how to fill early in the show's run.

I thought that Ms. Hawking would turn out to be the woman at Oxford...the whole weird Druid robe/Apple II/chalk-drawing thing threw me for a major loop.

The thing that is bugging me is Neil dying. Believe me, I cheered when he flamed on. But this was not the first time we saw his character. If the future can't be changed, then the show fucked up and Neil shouldn't be dead.

You really think they're gonna stick with the 'future can't be changed' route?
